I am only wanting to spend $300. Want mp3 and some decent features

at the moment it is a tossup between the:

SONY CDX-V5800 - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50144&item=5761288294&rd=1

or the

Pioneer DEH - 5750 MP - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50144&item=5760898123&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Sonys get alot of flak, but they make quality head units..

the sony one u have there is a top notch one.. the EQ3 settings are perfect for people who like to personalise their sound settings..

also the pioneer one looks basic in comparison..

I had a Pioneer 4650 (little brother of the 5750) and was very happy with it, except it was very bright at night and had no dimmer. I'd take the 5750 if it was me, but then I much prefer Pioneer over Sony anyway.

Sony Headunits aren't too bad imo. Probably the only Sony Car audio item I'd purchase.

Much of a muchness. Weigh up the features against each other and what you think you'll use.

Peace

SICK!! VCD Player!

who the **** has vcd's these days? :doubt:

Despite that, i'd go the sony, simply coz it has a vcd player, and looks more exciting than the pioneer one. lol

Yeah woudln't use the vcd but I am thinking of the aux inputs. There is a kenwood deck the 6026 that has them also and is around $300 but I dont really like the look of it.

with most decks jvc pioneer kenwood alpine etc. You can buy adapters to change the cd stacker input into rca input.

I did this with my JVC for around $65-$70 and works a treat.

Yeah I saw these but paying the extra 70 in my opinion you may as well just spend more on the head unit to start with and get the model that already has the inputs.

If it helps, i have a sony headunit, its a pretty good one, and the features that come with sonys products are extremely user friendly and easy to use. For example, things like getting bass control or faders or eq settings. With most brands you need to press a button several times to get to what your after. then after you chosen it, if u wanna change it, you gotta press the button several times again. With sony the last thing u use is remembered, so u dont have to keep pressin things. This helps keep your eyes on the road.

I dunno, small things like that make the sony products better for me. I dont know what the Pioneer hu is like ferature wise. but that sony one definately would be top of the list for me :D

Yeah, the Pioneer 4650 (probably others as well) has a similar arrangement.

spend an extra $50 or so, and go to JB HiFi at Knox City (Melbourne) and get Panasonic CQ-5400, $350 or something I think.
