Hey guys, im getting sick of my auto tanny in the 4cyl , its a gutsy little thing but it just holds the revs and drops gears in every fashion maybe 1 or 2 at a time, but i have had the bands replaced in the unit but still seems to hold in eco and power for ages ? any ideas ? also when i slow down to around 30 -20 kms it shugs then stops . has that got something to do with it ???? would it just need a service cause it didnt get one well i dont think it did when the bands were replaced....

Another mate is having similar problems like you on his TM. He is also on the verge just to burn the car right now. Auto mechanics didn't seem to have a clue about it either, stupid idiots.
Basically it is undrivable as it will not go into 3rd, and even going from 1st to 2nd takes a very long time. We've about to our hands on a different computer and hopes it fixes the problem, but I have my doubts. We may end up burning the car :(
what ATF are you using i know that on 1st gen autos you can have all sorts of problems if you don't use genuine mitsubishi ATF when the cars first came out it was a big issue as any other ATF caused poor auto operation, what it was, was the properties of the ATF was different and only mitsubishi and one other oil company (the one who developed the ATF for mitsu) had the right stuff.

This is the other issue we have in mind, the problem only got worse when the auto tranny was serviced by the auto mechanics place. I don't know what fluid they used as I wasn't there, but I do suspect it could be the wrong one. We'll probably end up replacing the tranny fluid ourselves, stupid mechanics.

I am a mechainic (well 3rd year apprentice) myself. can't call us all stupid but i do agree their is some out there, they probably used the cheapest/easiest ATF they could.

Yeah I didn't mean to generalise, I was actually referring to the guys who did the service.
