I'm having trouble getting my manual into gears all of the sudden today. Reverse is the worst. When the car is moving going from gear to gear seems normal but when stationary selecting any gear is usually really hard. Also, as soon as this started happening i noticed the pressure point of the clutch moved from up really high to down on the floor (ie the clutch engages pretty much as soon as you start letting your foot up off the ground, it never used to be like this).. I think i can smell constant clutch burning aswell.
This happened all of the sudden, one minute the car was perfect the next like this...
The clutch has been fine in it up till now and even now it doesnt slip at all so there seems to be plenty of meat left on the clutch plate. Could i have a buggered pressure plate??

Is ur Sports under Warranty?
If so just take it back and get it done under warranty,if not
Look for a good mechanic:doubt:
Good luck mate

Its not under warranty and i have a good mechanic.. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem so i know i aint getting told bull**** by my mechanic!
I believe some of the TJ's had bad pressure plates in them from the factory, is this true??
It sounds like a pressure plate failure to me, get the whole assembly repalced also be careful as the flywheel may now be beyond machining (just going by you saying you can constantly smell the clutch) also get the thrust bearing replaced, it also may have seized causing the problem.

Check the condition of the engine mounts, this could be your problem if the gearbox has dropped a little and its putting pressure on the gear linkages.

It'll be a slave cylinder failure - from the symptoms of the clutch point dropping to the floor and not being able to select gears. If it were a pressure plate you'd have the added problem of scary amounts of slip while in gear :P is it slipping ?

No slipping what so ever, its perfect in that sense
If it was the slave cylinder wouldnt it be hard to get into gear even when the car is moving?
Also, other cars ive had, when one of the clyinders go the clutch pedal has no pressure left in it and stays on the floor, its not doing that....

I had a problem similiar to this, dunno if its the same but i had problems selecting gears.
When it was in a gear though i could change to the others with no issues but as soon as id go to neutral i couldnt find gears anymore unless i really tried.
The problem was the gearshift bracket was broken. its the bracket that sits on top of the gearbox and the selector cables sit in it sorta.

It cost $20 to get it welded back together and about mins. :D
Otherwise you'll have to get a new bracket, being a mitsibishi part be prepare to pay unusual amounts of $$$ for that piece :doubt:
You can find the problem easy.

Well you say that the clutch isnt dropping to the ground or slipping, so it cant be that.
I was worried about my gearbox seeing my car has done 190,000kms.
