Hello all,

I just washed my new toy for the first time (2003 TJII AWD Sports) and noticed that some of the paintwork on the bonnet seems to be cracking! There are these fine crack marks under the clearcoat (so it's not rough or peeling yet). Mainly on the bonnet - and a smaller patch on the roof...

Also this car was treated with that polymer stuff when it was brand new - so it's slightly annoying to find damaged paintwork so early!

Does Mitsubishi cover fine cracks in its paintwork under warranty? I guess it's worth a try.

The other options are:
1) Get it resprayed - anyone have an idea of the costs?
2) Or get a 2003 Sable bonnet from the wreckers?

Slightly annoying - but I am still enjoying driving this beast! :P

What does the warranty for the paint protection say?

non-transferrable I bet... I doubt Mitsu will cover it, sorry dude.

I had similar issues, they detailed my black car using a white buffing compound then applied the clear coat, of course they didn't bother to remove the white buffing compound that had worked it's way into any scratches first!!!

I'd be rather suspicious if the paint is already cracking for a 2 year old car.
