ok guys ive had some quotes on some new rims and they are all priced reasonably. my only problem is i cant decide which ones to get to go on my 97 Grey Verada.

either ROH Furys, Adrenalin or Vapor.
OR AMG Quake, Conquest or Akuza.

i think all are on the bobjane wheels matching program. at www.bobjane.com.au

also cant decide on 17's or 18's. how much would tyres be for 17inch rims and 18 inch rims? much of a difference on price?

also what would be the size i would need? like 17 or 18x ?

any help would be appreciated! cheers guys.

18" tyres are expensive, and a fair bit harder to get.
Go 17".

Those new ROH Vapors look pretty cool.

See my thread here (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16154) about 18" tyres.

It really depends on whether you want to stay legal, or if your insurance company gives you the green light for the tyres you can afford.

Depends on which state you're in. Some states don't care about the width but restrict you to one inch diameter increase only (ie 17" would be your max), some states care about both, some care about neither.

I love the ROH Vapors.. but they need to be big.. Theyre very classy though...

The AMG Quakes are ok, very plain.. the conquests have that more masculine look to them I guess you could say.. Im not sure how else to describe it.. just a bit beefier..

I have conquests on my car in 17s.

As an idea, I paid around $1500 for 17x7.5" wheels with rubber (mind you the rubber is ****..)

With your verada, Id probably recommend the Vapors or the Quakes.. preferably the Quakes so i can get vapors later.. or hell just buy my wheels and Il get the vapors now :D hehehe

I can legally go 18", but Im not for the same reason... I dont want to have to start a saving account purely dedicated to tyres!!!

If I'm reading this right, you have no restrictions on wheel width...

26—Wheels and tyres

<snip>

(5) Despite the requirements of any other regulation or rule under the Act, a motor vehicle that is required to comply with ADR 24 may be—

(a) equipped with tyres other than those listed on the tyre placard fitted to the vehicle, provided that—

(i) the load of a tyre fitted is not less than the lowest load listed on the tyre placard; and

(ii) the overall diameter of a wheel and tyre fitted is not more than 15 millimetres greater than that advised in the Tyre and Rim Standards Manual (issued by the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia) for the largest tyre size listed on the placard and not more than 15 millimetres less than that advised in the Manual for the smallest tyre size listed on the placard; or

(b) equipped with wheels wider than those listed on the tyre placard; or

(c) equipped with wheels with a rim diameter other than a rim diameter (if any) listed on the tyre placard, provided that the rim diameter of a wheel fitted is not more than 50 millimetres greater than the largest diameter listed on the placard and not more than 50 millimetres less than the smallest diameter listed on the placard.

Correct me if im wrong but i was under idea that it was the overall tire size, eg 16's with high profile or 18's with ultra low, so its the whole size of the wheel not just the rim, not sure about rim width tho.

The diameter of the tyre has to be the same nomatter what tyre/rim you are getting. It has to be otherwise the KM/H will be out.

In regards to costs... I have 18x8 mags and tyres, and it set me back just under $2100. I know each tyre costs me around $180. I was told that 18x7.5 tyres are more expensive as they are not as common. So expect those to be around $250? Yeah weird i know... smaller tyre is more expensive. And nice mags, 18x8 you can get for around $400 a pop.

Mitsa_jerk try RAA for insurance. They have been great to me so far, and will let me lower my car (to specified limit), get a strut brace, mags, stereo. They are pretty good as long as your car is legal. Im 21 also but I have a rating 1 for life. $730ish it cost me for a 99 TH Sports.

Had a look at the Clarion TL VRX yesterday. It has 19" ROH Drift R's on it. Not sure how wide they were. looked good though.

bigger is better but for affordability, vapors, conquests or quakes in 17's.

Tyres will be more affordable and they give the appearance of being bigger than they are because of the spokes going to the outer edge.

Get them conquests off Mysti, she'll do you a top deal as she NEEDS 19" of vapor insanity!

edit: so do I
