Well sold my car and brought my 4x4. Crap stereo.....
So time for upgrades.
I'm buying a Nakamichi CD500 MP3 player, obviously for total sound quality.
Front splits are the next one. I like euro sound in speakers so I'm looking at Focal, Eton and Rainbow front splits. The ones I'm looking at are around the 1200 per set. Anyone heard these speakers the only ones I've heard are Focals but I'm curious about the Eton and Rainbow speakers. Yes the Rainbow reference speakers are out at 10,000.
Any preference guys and anyone know anywhere in Melbourne stocking Eton and Raindow splits.
Just remember that country of manufacture (or continent) has nothing to do with the sound. Rather, it's the suspension (amongst other things) that primarily governs the sound reproduction characteristics. Focal, Rainbow and Eton are almost at all three totally opposite ends of the soft / hard suspension spectrum.
There are many shops where you can hear Focal however there are only one Rainbow and Eton dealer in each state. We're the NSW dealer, the VIC dealer is Raw Audio (http://www.rawaudio.com.au). If people wish to organise an incar Audition in NSW please email me as we have them installed in our demo cars. :)
I have Rainbow reference mids in my car (I use a Morel Supremo tweeter) and I can tell you that if you listen to the more refined music genres such as classical, jazz, blues, vocals etc then they're the go. If you listen to the harder genres such as rock, RnB, metal, techno, dance etc you might be better off leaning towards Eton / Focal. :)
You might want to also add DynAudio (Denmark), Morel (Israel) and Diamond (Germany) to your audition list too. :)
