This is going into a NL pajero. I have just about worked out the front stage and now for rear. I will use it as fill but I do want it to be good quality so the rear passengers get a good sound. Of course I also don't want to spend a $1000 for the rear but I do want a nice clear sound from them. A good midbass punch as well. I 'm tossing up between a good 6 inch coaxle or a 6x9. Not sure which way to go with it.
I just havn't heard many 6x9 i like the sound of but open to all suggestions
what year is the NL? my old man has a pajero.. (very very last 1999) model exceed. the rear speakers definately aren't 6x9s, and the fronts are probably 4s. I know, it comes stock with a clarioin 6cd stacker and headunit, but the speakers are sooo dodgey.
its rear fill...im sure alpine would make speakers in that awkard size..

NL's should all have 6x9's in the back according to mit's partfinder. Thing is with most 6x9's I find are they are more midbass onloy and the highs are awful. I'm looking at a speaker that will produce the highs nice and clean without distortion but also have nice midbass

you get get some 6.5" splits or coaxials. Nice treble, and if you get the right ones, good midbass as well.

I don't want splits but also after maybe some good brands to go listen to that peeople have heard and know they sound good. I listen to Jazz, Blues, Instrumentals and a lot of Female voices.

the whole idea of 6x9s is to produce low frequencies.
a speaker that size just cannot produce high end, which is why there is no point running with when you have subs.
id just find a nice 6" coaxial, if you are a on a budget check out the jaycar range, fantastic value for money.

Jaycar (well this is a few weeks back) had discontinued their current range as they were bringing in a whole new range of Kevlar speakers. Ive been waiting for them to come in and see what they are like.
I can also order through Electus, which are Jaycars suppliers. I get wholesale prices and all Jaycar stuff, so there are some big savings to be made. If anyone wants anything from them I can order it for you.
Cheers

You won't need anything fancy because it is just your rear fill. I would suggest looking at coaxials loaded with a horn.

Pete, do these Electus guys also deal with Vifa/Peerless drivers?

They used to deal with Vifa, but dont anymore.
Scan Audio (??) in Melbourne I think sells them, along with a lot of other quality drivers.
Sorry

Maybe I should be a little more specific, I'm buying one of these front speakers, Diamond Hex, Morel Elate 9 or DynaAudio 240 MRK II so rear speakers I still want quality.
Any suggestions on rears. I don't want the rear passengers to cope a earfull of midbass or below so clarity and sound quality still have to be good. I'm setting the system up to sound top notch but I will also be running a DVD player through it later hence the rear still needs to sound good.
Suggestions??

depending on how much focus ur putting on stereo vs 5.1 will justify the price to spend on the rears. I'd imagine it will be 90% stereo, considering ur driving it most of the time (I assume so anyway)
It seems you plan on putting a pretty penny into ur rears which is not a bad thing. But it should all be relative.
Have you considered some more serious gear up front (not that that gear isn't very fine already) But consider the use of HLCD's, or Supremo tweets with ambients.
Then you can go with either a 3 way setup. Or just an 8" driver in the doors. Or like a elate 9.3 etc (even smaller sub in the doors and two way setup in the kicks.
(Or both the horn and supremo can fill in this gap adequately)
Also consider some serious quality amps and maybe spend the money on more headroom. (Audison, Soundstream, Zapco, arcaudio, tru tech etc)
Then just fill the rear with some lower priced but still quality splits. (MB quartz, cheaper/older Morels, second hand Dyns etc.) Maybe Diamond m361.
i just wanna see someone with horns in a magna really :)
Peace

ROFL!!!!!!!!! :bowrofl: That's seriously seriously made my night! Ah. Such childish gutter humour! Where would life be without it! Horns is such a funny word. My bro always used to like triumph stags... and at some friends house for a fancy dinner he said, 'I want a stag' at the table. Ah. Memories.

Thanks Tim, I was thinking the Diamond M361's. Anywhere in Melbourne I could listen to them???
Yes I will be amping the front with a decent amp also. When funds say yeah....It's only money after all.
