I drove my TE to work and had no miss or anything.. I started it to come home and now it has a Bad Miss??
Would a Blocked Cat cause an Engine miss ??
Any Idea's would be greatly appreciated..
It has a miss at Idle as well as a Miss at Engine RPM..
Very Rough Running.

hi
dont think it sounds like a cat. maybe spark plugs how old is the rear bank they are harder to do so ppl are reluctant to do em also $40 a plug i think but they last twice as long.... sounds like an ignition problem maybe faultly plugs leads, plugs, distributor(may be cracked)
other that that  i dont know
yeh check the leads, mine does the whole miss thing wen my leads heat up

How do I check the Leads ?? They do not appear to be split ??
If all the Plugs and leads check out, Should I reset the ECU???

How the hell do you get the Front Plugs out when they won't let a spark plug socket to enter into the chamber ??

ok well my plug socket fits but as for your leads most mechanics have supression lead testers i think you would have to either replace them or buy a tester if you wanna do em yourself

Thanks to all Help..
We Used a European Spark Plug remover with two Extension bars and removed the plugs..
All Front 3 were as Black as Night. We Cleaned and Returned them and it seems to have solved the Problem..
As Soon as the Shops around my Area open I am off to get replacements..

$15 Sounds a little cheap, My last car cost me $27 per plug.. and it had only 4 of them !
So what are the Best, Intermediate and Cheap plugs that can fit ??
Will super cheap Auto have them ??

Anyone heard of a custom 'spark plug remover' comming with cars? Also, did anyone get one with theirs?
I'd never heard of such a beast but a few people have shown me photos these things that came with their cars 'tool kit' (jack, wheel nut remover etc) that are apparently designed custom for the engine of the car they come with to fit in the spark plug holes..

there is a revised plug that has been designed for use with challenger, pajero and triton v6 engines to relieve excessive electrical load from other ignition components namely plug leads but also coils. i have used 6 of these in magna with very good results, smoother idle and running even claimed slightly better economy.
i cant quite work out why mitsu didnt put 6 of the same plugs in magna because front and rear bank plugs wear at different rates due to rears being platinums and fronts standard type. When they arent wearing at the same rate how can the engine be perfectly balanced?
they are a semi surface discharce type plug with 3 earth tangs. i cant remeber the part number off hand but 6 will cost you less than 3 platinums and they are 100k service interval plugs. ill chase the part number during the week and post up for anyone interested.
just something to think about.

actually, i got a dumb question to ask:
how do you know when it misses? like how does it sound like/drive like?
take off one of yur sprak plug leads and take it for a spin...
like a rex kind of noise
oh and dont take off ya lead just imagine the noise ;)

When your engine is missing, yes it sounds like you have Just installed a Boxer Motor into your except you have way less power then normal..
It turns your Nice fuel injected Smooth running V-6 into a Terrible sounding V-8 with about as much power as a Vespa Motor scooter.. I need to get mine fixed in a hurry, I do not want to have to drive around in a V-4 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think 2 plugs are dead..

Does sound like plugs but could be a mirriad of things. I had dramas not long ago, ended up changing plugs leads disi cap and rotor button, and fixed problem slightly then changed TPS which fixed another exsisting problem but was still missing hmmmmmmm.......... so got in and checked injectors restarted car and presto :bowrofl: happened to be one of the injectors not seated properly, so it was sucking in a little extra air hense the missing at around 3500- 4000rpm.
So hopefully your problem will only be plugs.
Adam :flame:
mine only does it after i give it a good rev and it heats up...
im changing my leads today changed all my plugs last week wen i changed the rocker cover as there was oil filling up in the spark plug cazing an even worse miss...
ah well off to change the brake pads today

if your front bank is that bad you can bet that the rear bank is going to be as bad if not worse as they are harder to do have to remove intake manifold and all i sugest you replace them too but before you pull it all apart get the gaskets you are gonna need first ask mitsu as i am not sure which ones they are(like i dont wanna tell ya you need this this and this and forgot to tell ya one but as i say ill put money on the rear ones being worse the rae iridium ones cause they are harder to do last longer therefor more cost involved to replace em
i hope this helps
