Was wondering I got quoted from Redline, around the 500$ for the 3.0l to be bored out to 3.2 this includes bigger pistons, how is this price if any one else has done it?.

Oh and is there much to gain from boring out to 3.2 power gain? or loss?

500$ - what are they using? a large drill bit? and what kind of pistion are they using? sounds wayy too cheap.. if you said 1500 maybe, but not for 500..

if anyting, very tiny increase of power, but you'll see more torque.

conclusion - risky at the price you've stated.

If you're in need of a reco/rebore anyway, why not just swap in a 3.5?

Sounds like an awesome deal...

How respectable are these guys and ask them if they have done it before to another 3.0litre v6?

That sounds to cheap to me, do you know if they use the standard bore liners and just take a few thou from them or if they use new liners.

I'm with Ben...... sounds hella cheap for what you've mentioned. Sure it's not $500 just for the labour to strip and bore and pistons are on top of that??

It's either an awesome deal, or you'll be dicing with shoddy workmanship and low quality parts. Best way to know for sure is find out exactly what that price includes and ring up another performance shop and ask for a quote on the same job.

yeah thats right, redline 28 years experince, aparently. they also qouted me 200$ to port and polish, but i dont think i will be getting bore because of legalities.

another question, anyone here with pace makers notice like a valve on the extractors at the back of the engine? like just a hole where something screws on, mines got nothing in there just wondering what goes on there

Aye thats rediculously cheap, a reasonable set of pistons would sting you 500 :P

you cant tell that its been bored without takign it apart and measuring it all up........i dont think legality is an issue at all.
For all anyone knows its still just a 3.0l...................

That's right, unless you take the engine apart and start measuring the cylinders, no one will every know. And like the RTA or your insurer will go to deep lengths like that.

That said, $500 is too cheap for labour, boring/honing, and new pistons.

Thats there for your EGR (Exhuast Gas Recirculatory) System and is only exclusive to the TJ's I think. It basically recirculates some ehxuast gasses back into the intake (crazy huh) to lower cylinder temperatures and improve emmisions.

Im blocking mine off.

also a nice way for a mechanic to park ur car in there workshop for 3 hrs do nothing to the car and say its been bored?, because as you stated, theres no way to tell unless you measured it :|
