I have just tried Magnatec for the first time in my wifes '97 Astina. When you start her car, the lifters/tappers are very noisy for the first second or two until the oil gets up to the heads to lubricate them. It has always done this since new and is totally normal.

I just serviced it and put Magnatec in and since then, it makes no more noisy lifter/tappet noise when first started. Don't tell me it actually does what it says it does.

Just thought i would share this as i was always a bit iffy that it would actually work. Looks like it does.

Not as well as this gear i use eh... Its an oil additive its like 1:14 ratio & its awesome!! They did a pressure test on magnatec & other oils, the best oil by itself was some truck deisel oil, but magnatec was up there in petrol car oils, failing at around 750lb, but when they put this additive in run of the mill mineral oil it was still going a 4500lb of pressure... think of what it would do to the magnatec. the machine they use to test it is limited at 4500lb so who knows. they are getting a new one shortly eh.

this is normally where i would say do a search, but i will save you alot of time and effort and summarise this forums opinons on magnatec in one sentance.

Some people swear by it, others think its way to thin and is completely useless, my suggestion is to try it and make up your own mind
