I am after a set of 6x9's to drop into the rear Parcel shelf of my TE..
I need them to fit under the existing rear covers.

So my Question is

What you got down the back and are they Under the rear covers????

I can't speak for any other brands, but all the Pioneer TS- models (TS-A6960 etc) don't, but they can be made to fit without too much hassle. Search the forums, as others has discribed how they did it.

This is a page I had on it ages ago from my install... if it is of any help. I doubt that they have changed but the Pioneer 6x9's drop straight in to 3rd gens... I am sure some other brands do too.

Pioneer Rear 6x9 speaker install (http://neilk.customer.netspace.net.au/HyperTF/rspeakers.htm)

You will note that the stock covers do not sit flush with mine now but you barely notice... if it does for you, then you can shave some of the plastic away from underneath the cover itself.

Good luck with it

When I originally dropped my first pioneers in (they were second hand) right after I got the car, I needed to 'creatively panelbeat' a little to get them to fit.

But now the pioneers drop right in. Never had any other speakers other than Pioneer in the back. Looking at a set of JBL GT's when I wanna upgrade......

i have CADENCE 6x9's in the back of my tf and they handle heaps of power too. i did have to open out the hole a little with pliers to get them to fit. no cutting though just like rolling guard lips for larger wheels

But now the pioneers drop right in.

Weird, the guy at JB's specifically told me they don't.
