Im trying to fix my fuel gauges using the regualtor replacement trick. i put a 8volt (well i think its a 8 volt) in and the guage read wayy to past full, like asfar as it can go. i put a 6 volt in and the gauge doesnt move far enuff

where can i find one of these little 7 volt buggers. i have tried dicksmith and jaycar... any other suggestions

maybe its not a regulator problem then?

yer good idea its a common problem in the gen1 sender units to fail, nomally the guide breaks so the float still moves but skips bits on the contucding strip if that makes sence

Sender was replaced when conversion was done, the stock regulator would go 3/4 when full then after about 20ks it would drop to empty then stay somewhere around half.
When i put the 8volt one in the gauge needle went all the way to the end past the full mark, basically asfar as it can physically move. With the 6volt in it seems that its about 1/4 or so off....

you should be able to get a new regulator from an auto electrician or an instrument repair shop.

thats exactly what mine does execpt it doesnt drop to empty (untills its empty) but works fine below 1/2 so, so long as it works below 1/2 ive never really had an issue with it

hehe, yeah, mine works fine under the half way mark, but i donno if mine goes over the top at full, cos i never have enough spare cash to fill it right up :P
