Hey Guys
Thinking of upgrading the sound system in my RalliArt soon and was just wondering if anyone had any specs on the Eclipse speakers used? Anything like part numbers or power handling would be great.
Also, what have the other RalliArt owners done as far as upgrading their sound system?
I am mainly thinking of putting in a sub/amp but am concerned about the sub drowning out the other speakers. Can the other speakers be amped succesfully??
Thanks in advance

Did you amp or update the other speakers at the same time? Would two subs drown out the remaining music from other speakers?

I too have installed 2 Subs and a big amp... No problems with the existing setup.

Front splits & rear 6x9s are decent quality Eclipse units, the small 3.5" mids in the dash are crap though.
I upgraded the Front splits & 6x9s with newer Eclipse point-source series units and added a PA5422 4-channel Eclipse amp to give it a bit more grunt.
Soon to come are some replacements for the 3.5" in the dash probably MB Quarts as Eclipse don't make a coaxial that small, an Eclipse centre channel speaker and another Eclipse amp and a boxed 10" woofer (see pic bellow) for some subtle bass whilst keeping with the standard red/black/silver interior theme of the ralliart and possibly some rear satellite speakers aswell.

I took my Ralliart to one of the big car hi-fi shops here in Adelaide, and it turned out the manager is a Magna fanatic, had a nicely done-up TF in the staff car park and descended on the Ralliart to check it out.
He's done major things with his ICE, but he said that the Ralliart Fujitsu Eclipse head unit is still about as good as you can get. He offered me money for the Eclipse CD changer, as apparently they only made it for a short time and it's very rare and sought-after (Eclipse for some reason have gone back to in-boot changers). We then hooked into the dash and door trims and checked out all the speakers - and as he knows his Magnas backwards, he also knew all about the stock Mitsu speakers.
There's 2 x tweeters in the front door mirror section (Mitsu origin - sh*tty), 2 x mids on top of the front dashboard (Mitsu origin - passable quality), 2 x dual cones in the front door (these are actually quite good quality Fujitsu Eclipse units), and 2 x triple cones in the rear parcel shelf (Mitsu origin - passable quality for a rear 'filler' speaker).
We ended up disconnecting the tweeters as it was interfering with the tweeter in the dual cone Eclipse speakers mounted in the door. These have a directional tweeter (hence, no need for the door mirror mounted tweeters). This was the reason I went in to begin with - the stereo sounded way too trebley, and it doesn't need two sets of tweeters competeing with each other!
I'm pretty happy with the sound now - but his 'perfect' Ralliart audio recommedation was:
Retain the Ralliart Eclipse head unit and CD changer; Replace the front door speakers with Focal 130A 2 way speakers; Replace the rear 6 x 9s with Focal 690 CAs; Disconnect the Mitsu front tweeters and mids; and hook the new system up to an Eclipse EA3422 integrated amp. Total cost around $1300.

Hey Fencer which shop was that?
Cause I want to totally upgrade my stock speakers in my TH Sports. If the guy likes magnas, I'd like to deal with him as he'd hopefully have some idea what fits/sounds good.
I live in Para Hills, but aren't worried about a bit of a drive to get some decent advice!
Cheers

Strange, the only owner of my Ralliart before me was Mitsu and mine had Eclipse 6x9s in the parcel shelf (which I've since replaced with the newer/better version of the same thing.) - lucky me.
Those Eclipse speakers have since been put into another magna and the owner of that car is truely stoked with how they sound in comparison to the stock mitsu/magna speakers given that they are only running off of the deck!

Mate,
Just near you. It's the guy that runs Tonkin's Car Audio on Park Tce, Salisbury. He'd be stoked to see another Magna I reckon. He's got a silver TF with some serious audio in it (I guess he gets it cheap!).
In reference to the rear 6x9's, they're definitely Mitsu on mine. According to the guy at Tonkin's it's the standard Verada audio fit apart from the Eclipse front speakers. Having seen that rears were just Mitsu, I went in there saying they must be sh*t etc etc, but he reckons that they're really not too bad as a filler speaker, given the fronts are better quality (of course he can better them, and he really likes the Focals in a Magna).
Anyway check it out, I found Tonkin's at Salisbury really helpful.

Well I got done then! Definitely got the little Mitsu triple diamond on the underside of the rear 6x9's. Doesn't look like anybody's mucked with them. Possibly someone at the Mitsu dealer swapped them over when the car was first brought through when new??
Mine's build no 118. I don't know if MMAL messed about with the specification during the build program? Surprisingly they don't sound too bad (the problems were with the over-abundance of tweeters in the front).
Maybe I can go back to Mitsu under warranty and demand my rear Eclipse 6x9s?

Hows the imaging sound at the front?
I'm thinking of putting ambient tweeters in mine as well
