The RPW Stage 2 cams that I got are wicked, but I have decided to polish the lobes to a mirror finish in the need for more power :D

When does the the power slow in teh rev range - teh 2nd stage cams are meant to increase the power over the entire rev range right and keep the power going when the older cams couldn't cope - so when does the power ease off - around 6K or is it still around 5.5K??

Is it good for 100k in 2nd??

With the Stage 2 Cams, it will create more torque which in turn allow the engine to pull higher revs, according to the cam spec David supplied me, my friend said that 100km/h in second shouldn't be a problem, which will also mean saving a gear change an a few tenths of a second off the 0-100 time.

nice... how much have you paid for this job thus far? where's that msg where you showed the pics of the cams and was there also a crankshaft in the picture. btw MagnaV6Sports, as your car felt alot different since stock condition and also, has it sounded different?

I thought you'd lose a little torque down low but went harder top end. How's it at idle? Does it feel / sound lumpy? Let us know how fuel economy goes.

I won't know the price until I get it done sadly LOL... As for the pics... I posted it some time ago... I think it is in this section of the forum... Are u talking about the red Cam Gears?

The good thing about magnas is that you get around 85% of yhe torque @ 2800RPM. With the cams, the torque curve should go up and become more linear throughout the rev range.. :)

Ta. And why would a mirror finish allow more power? Wouldn't the surface just scratch up again?

MagnaV6Sports, did you update your ECU to run stage 2 cams, or just a FPR?

The smoother the surface, the less friction it makes, the more power it gives :D scratching is caused by friction, so with good oil and smooth finish.. it should hold for a long time too :D

I will be running the Apexi SAFC II and the FPR with stock ECU to run the cams. The ECU will have to come later... :D

what does the apexi do?
the car will run alright with stage 2 cams and no upgrade of the ECU. It's just i wanna go stage 2 later in life but don't wanna touch the ECU cause of $$$'s

The car will run alright with stock ECU IF you have an Air/Fuel management system installed (Apexi SAFC II, Greddy E-Manage)

Basically, the SAFC II modifies the air fuel mixture or flow for optimum efficiency with Aftermarket cams, you can also set the fuel curve manually to your driving style, it also has a knock sensor built in. As with the RPW Stage 2 cams, there will be irratic idles and the SAFC II helps to cure the problem associated with it.. Irratic idles can also be cured by the FPR and increasing the idle rate if you choose not to have some form of air/fuel management system or chip.

Keep in mind when your taking away some of the surface from the cam lobes you changing the cam profile already.

How much where the camshaft's by the way ?

Can't remember it off the top of my head Widow, but it's 1000 for the cams, I think 300 plus for the cam gears and another xxx amount for the valve springs and shims.......

You need the cam gears for stage 2, don't you?

Yup KB, they come as a package deal from RPW :D

Redav; Yes the cam gears will allow me to play with the timing of the cams through retarding it or advancing it.

Ohh Laa Laa!!!

My RPW Stage 2 cams have been polished... minimally... Like Widow mentioned it will change the profile.. but it's done lightly just smoother so the difference is negligible...
