Gentlemen,

As you can imagine, antenna on my TH Magna broke during car wash.
Is there anyone in Sydney that can replace it or install something better that original TH antenna?

Thanks

U can do this urself if ur up for it. U dont have to open up any panels as it's all there in the boot.

U could ring Mitsu and see how much they'll sting you for this, otherwise most JB Hifi/Autobarn sell aerials. Might be a good time to upgrade to an electric (If urs wasnt already)

Welcome to the forums

Aerpro Make replacement Antenna's.
Only problem I can see is when you replace the original, if the rubber seal is not 100% done properly you will get water in the boot..

I checked a while ago with JB-Hifi, and they said the antenna is like around $200 for a TH Magna electric antennae. Its rediculous. ****ing holdens and fords are like $60.

I want electric one also, as i broke my antenna a while back, coz i was going through carwash and antenna wouldn't go all the way in anymore. If someone else know where to get electric ones from cheaper than JB's, let us know

Ive got a TH as well, and it hasnt got an electric antenna, but has the wire for it connected to the stereo... does this mean any necessary wires will already be in the boot and I can easily connect an electric antenna up? Or do I have to try to run a loom back there somehow?
Cheers
Pete

Thanks for warm welcome.
To be honest I got a bit scared about aerial replacement after I read on some forum how people f***ed up their magna during antenna replacement-they used to scratch panels, lose pliers etc.
That is why I was after some technician that may replace antenna - I expected that replacement may cost appr. $150 + work...
Who may be the cheapest...maybe some car electrician...?

Take precautions and you shouldn't do too much damage. :P

If you're known to be clumsy, protect your surrounding paint with
masking tape and cover all horizontal surfaces with old towel etc.
Just think ahead.. if there's any chance you'll drop a tool somewhere,
make sure where it lands is padded to protect the paint.

For parts that poke outside thru panels (ie possible chance of leak),
I would think about using either silicone sealant or Vaseline
when reassembling to avoid future water leaks.

ps. I'm anal. I just spent quality time taking off & replacing 20
wheelnuts, just so I could lube their threads with copper grease.
Stops them siezing, you see..
