Hey there members, as you can tell i'm new here. I have no experience in modifying cars, i was wandering if anyone could give me any ideas as to where i should start. I own a stock 92 magna sedan. Any replies would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance :)

Your best place to start is by using the search function and looking at the replies all your predecessors have got to this very question :P

Really it comes down to what you want to do.. do you want to go fast, or do you want to cruise in style?

Option 1: extractors and other exhaust mods are a very good place to start. Intake mods are good too.. someone's posted cold air intakes for 2nd gens before so have a hunt around. Consider suspension mods (springs, shocks, swaybars) for a more enjoyable ride. If you've got lots and lots of money (> $10,000), consider a turbo conversion or something

Option 2: Find some nice wheels, look at member car photos and see if there's something you like.. chuck on a window tint, that always looks good, throw in some lowered springs too while you're at it

Welcome aboard.. enjoy your stay!

I want my ride to be both looking good as well as have the fast features. I've decided i want to begin with the exterior of the car. I live in Victoria and have found it very hard to locate a bodyshop that will help out with magna bodykits, help here would be appreciated :)

2nd gens look great with 17" rims... i would start by getting the rims and lowering it at least 1" all around on the sedan...

that will get the car looking heaps better, and handling much better... next u wanna make it go alittle quicker and sound better...

2" mandrel bent exhaust with a straight through muffler and either a resonator or middle muffler. go with some extractors too... genie are the best around for 1st gens but pacemakers seem to be the choice for the 3rd gen. for a 4 cyl u are looking at around $250 just for the headers.

next, try a finer filter... looks good and lasts heaps longer so in the long run u will actually save money by doing this mod.

thats a start anyway

What is the legal rim size on the 92 magna? I don't knwo if it's legal but wouldn't 18's look better than 17s? Thanks heaps for that idea, know any places i can get this lowering done? Sorry about the questions, i really dont know much

Start with the simple things, Gear Knob, Stereo, Spoiler and then Suspension and Mags..
followed by Engine mods such as Extractors and Exhaust work and if you have any money left over, Cams and Engine management...

Now that i've got some idea on my car, i think i'll begin with the exhaust and extractors, i'm gonna visit a few places, get some quotes and work from there. Next on my list is lowering the car, does this mean i need new springs and shocks?

Suggest you look at whiteline.com.au for their suggestions on the best bang for your buck for suspension work. Lowering is one of their least favoured options!

where in vic are you? for exhaust places, try daalders in box hill. a couple of us have had work done there......

as for shocks and springs, if you're going to lower with springs, your current shocks may be worn enough that you will have to replace them anyway.... otherwise, if they are fairly new shocks, then its not absolutely necessary.

oh and welcome too1!
