Which mitsubishi magna models transmissions are better ?

Out of all the models, which where built better and stronger ?

the manual is definately the strongest, but with the auto's i'd have to say probably the TH onwards 4-speed would theoreticly be stronger?

yeah the AWD tranny by far, it is the auto for the american seppo version of the lancer evo (you must never sell a car in america without an auto!!) so it can cope with some serious power

i believe it is a development of the 5spd in the FWD transmition in magna's, but it is a different box

I've chew this with companies who prep the GT-A Lancers (same 5spd auto) and EVO 6 (AWD inherited the EVO 6 transfer, LSD, driveshaft etc) and they assure me I wont be breaking a gearbox anytime soon. I had figures of 450nm quoted frequently during these discussions. A single turbo or supercharger kit will enjoy this gearbox.

Dallas at Street Torque ran 250kw atw before killing a 4speed auto in a 3rd gen.

What's on your mind anyway??

Remember that Ross Dunkerton ran a TL AWD in the Canberra Aust Rally Leg and won. They ran an essentially stock AWD except with aftermarket springs. These died on day1 and the OE were reinstalled and lasted the next 3days.

The stock AWD did have a tranny cooler (get one of these!!) and loads of underbody protection but still pulled in ahead of Lancers, Rex's, Pugs etc. I'm sure that tranny worked hard for it's supper those four days!

I WENT TO MITSUBISHI A WEEK AGO THEY SAID THE TE AND TF AUTOS WERE THE SAME BUT THE TH WERE IMPROVED AND THE TJ WERE IMPROVED AGAIN HE SAID THEY MADE THEM CHANGE SMOTHER AND SHIFT QUICKER AND BETTER AND PICK THE RIGHT GEAR AT THE RIGHT TIME
