Well in other cars I've had there's been an actual figure involved - hence the asking. I've got them at 70lbs at the moment which is about right for the thread diameter.

90 -110 Nm for TH to current

Every nut and bolt in every car has a safe/optimal, torque rating. As mentioned, 90-100Nm is good for wheel nuts.

so I shold stop using the rattle gun to do them up, then check them with a wheel nut spanner? and get out the torque wrench and do it properly :doubt:

The correct torque is tight enough so the wheels don't come off while you are driving !!!

But loose enough so you can still get them off with the ****ty stock nut remover from your boot, by yourself, in pouring rain, on the side of a deserted highway at 4 am :)

You can use a rattle gun, but use a torque limiting bar if you do.

There is a way, even with the factory POS wrench.
If any of you are at the NSW Newy/Central Coast/Sydney combied cruise on Fri night, I will show ya.
I am not a beefy guy either..... so simple you will hate me..

I did post torque figures, but I've always used my calibrated elbow to tighten wheel nuts and never lost a wheel yet.
Aww sh*t yes i did  came off my boat trailer and never ever saw the wheel again :bowrofl:.

Yeah, ok.
You basically use your foot. You don't jump in it, put the wrench on so the handle is horizontal, put your foot on it and step up onto it. You may need to bounce on it very gently (I am only 76-80kgs, but if you are 90-100kgs, you shouldn't need to.
I undid a lady's Landcruiser 100 series that this other guy had stopped to help, he was doing it with his arms and having trouble (was done up by a rattlegun).
It took me about 90 secs to have the wheel off, and about another 90 secs to get the spare on. And I am a weedy type of guy, not at all built. This guy looked like a rugby front rower. He was very embarrassed and said he was going to use that trick as well.
I said goodbye and took off lol
