my te magna's right cv joint rubber is stuffed!
Has anyone changed theres?
is it easier to change the whole joint or just the rubber?
i heard its a bi*ch to pull apart the joint, is it true?
How much is the rubber and the joint?

is it the inner or outer boot?

replacement CV boot kits with clips and grease are between $10-20.
Alternatively there is a universal fit (cut to size) outer boot on the market that are better rubber and will strech over the cv joint and you don't need to disassemble the CV or remove the shaft to fit. The catch is a special spreader tool is needed to fit them. Some workshops use them and because they are quick (only have to remove CV from hub and cut old boot off) they are cheap to fit.
They are sold by Brookvale power steering in sydney (I think thats their name).

if the rubber is gone and there is still grease in there u could get it re-sleeved and filled with grease....
otherwise just replace the whole thing, should be around the $150 supllied and fitted brand new

I changed both my CV joints on my TE.
I got re conditioned ones at a great price.
Don't bother trying to change boots yourself for the sake of a few $.
I paid $80-$85 each or so for them inc the new boots for an ABS CV joint.... remember to advise them if your car has ABS too!
I believe the new CV's sell for $120-$160 each.

BTW if u r changing one CV joint why not look at doing the other whilst the car is off the road.

Mate i hate taking my car to the machanic, they always bull sh*t and try to rip you off.
I like to fix my own car for the personal satisfaction, not the $$ saved. You have a good point about the other joint and I'm looking into it.
