Just wondering if people think i should mod my 3.5l or soucre a US 3.8l (from the galant) which is to be used in the magna replacement? is it the same motor or merely a base design to work from for the aust version?

Since no one has seen the new platform up close it is anyone's guess whether the 3.8L will slot into the engine bay on a current model magna.. and even if it does as soon as you do an engine sway you need to get a compliance check and an engineer's cert.
Sure the 3.8L is probably going to be a better base platform to do mods with but it's going to be an expensive exercise to get the motor installed.
But hey, don't let me discourage you.. I you can afford it, do it.

Mod it mate, less complex as people on these forums have been doing all sorts of stuff to them, whereas sourcing a 3.8litre engine has a lot of financial and time costs involved, added to that you won't really know how it'll turn out as i doubt anyone in aus has done that. Save yourself some money and headaches and go the proven methods that a lot of people on here have done!

better off waiting a couple of years, doing a few basic mods to your current car and saving up for a Ralliart Turbo Galant, that is, if they ever end up making one.

or just wait till october, when the realease the 3.8 wait a month, then check the wrecking yards lol
it wont take long before thrifty, avis and briz clients start writing em off.. haha.. then just buy the engines
trust me.. it will happen!! within a month of a car realease, there will always be writeoffs! lol

yer, haha. i remember an article in wheels or something, 2 days after the launch of the Monaro - one tried to fly off an adelaide cliff!! fell like 30metres or something - they then found it it belonged to a Holden Managment member lol
unlucky!

that reminds me of another story just a bit before the monaro launch, while they where still doing final evaluations, a high ranking GM exec was testing the only "latest" spec development model and completely destroyed it in a rather high speed accident
