I need help in designing a sub box. It needs to be 0.85c/ft or 24 ltrs. its to fit a Alpine ZR 12" sub.

I have no idea on this stuff, maths was my worst subject at school.....

Anyone please help.....Ive tried using Bassboxpro6 and the CAA calculator, I'm stuffed if I can work out what size I need to do it.....

plan on using 18mm MDF in a sealed enclosure, I have the FS vas and all these other specs from the manual but I dont have a clue what they all mean.
Only dimension i have is it needs to be 35cm or less in height to fit.

Any help appreciated.

Post the specs... I'll plug em in when I get some time.

With the ZR's there is no frequency response below 30 hz. Which isnt too much of a problem as no music plays that low anyway. Besides that they are an awesome sub. Used to be up there with the best of them in their day.

Definetly recommend a sealed box.

Peace

Ive attached the spec sheet, i hope it helps.
Although this is a ZR not VR sub, are they still as good as I remember?

thanx heaps Tim, take ya time, I dont get the driver till next friday.

I'm mainly after tight hitting bass but if possible for it to still go lowish, if you know what I mean. And if possible a wedge shaped box.

What thickness MDF do you recommend? I want this box to be damn strong.

I'll owe you big time for this.

IF only they'd make WinISD for mac

Ah well. I just end up having to use the online winisd, which is still pretty dodgey. I had about 12 pages of planning n stuff for my boot install, but i've thrown a lot of it out.

350mm high back, should allow you to shove the box right up against the back rest. The angle of the backrest was something..i forgot, TF_ADVAN? what did u say the angle was? I calculated mine to be about the same as yours. Its easy, dangle a piece of string from the top of the backrest onto teh floor, and then measure how long the string is and how far away from the base it is. From that, basic grade 2 maths should work it out.

Obviously, chances are ur car isn't sitting completely horizontal, and the back rest isn't completely flat either lol

I used 16mm mdf for my box, its invincible. Theres no real need for 18mm i reckon, just brace your 16mm box and it'll be fine. Saves u a bit of money too.

With WinISD, just plug all the values into the program, and play around with box sizes n stuff.

Hey Luke, Have you bought this yet?

Cos I may have one that I could let go. In very good condition. Used in a few SQ comps and never thrashed.

Let me know if ur interested and what date u need to know by and I'll see what I can do. It's in VIC so u'll save on postage too. If you've already sorted out the other one don't worry about it. I'll have to see with some mates first who were thinking of buying it.

Peace

Tim

The angle at the back of the box against the wall of the back seats was 75deg.
