Got hit in the upper right corner by a small stone yesterday arvo, got out there today and one of the arms of the star was out to about 4inches long. Rang around about getting it fixed, but they say once it goes like that, you're screwed.
So, new windscreen getting installed this afternoon, setting me back $225. All from a little stone that got flicked up on the highway.

What about Insurance? I had a truck flip a stone up and crack my windscreen on the highway recently..! I rang around and was looking at $200-$300...! My insurance company said I get 1 free windscreen per year..! So, I didnt have to pay a cent..!
Just watch who u get. Ive had a cpl windscreen replacment's in my cars by the "cheaper" quote guys, and 2 out of 3 the bloody thing leaked in the rain, and when I washed me car...!

Didn't really think of that, as there wasn't really anyone I could blame, wasn't like it fell off a truck (though it was flicked up by a cement truck), so figured I just had to wear it. Don't suppose it would be retrospective...
Oh well, needed to get one other chip fixed anyway, and $225 isn't too bad for a brand-new windscreen really. The guys (Instant Windscreens) had the old one out and the new one in in like 20minutes! Full lifetime guarantee, so can't ask for more than that.
But thanks, will call my insurance and see if I can get anything back. Doubt it, but worth a shot.

If a mowing contractor doing the side of the road throws a stone and damages you car you can hit up the RTA or local council for repairs. (depends on who's responsible for the road)

Yeah, I work for Hornsby Council and u have no idea how many *** ppl we get claiming "Your roads damage our cars". As for the mowing contractor stone chip, it would be the mowing contractor who has to pay. Council will only pay if it is from deformity in the road. ie big pothole and ur suspension bottoms out, **** like than. If you fall over on the road, technically you can sue, but u would need a good lawyer. We have to send out so many letters to people saying "Sorry, cant help you. Our roads arent the reason for the damage done to your car. Please take the matter up with <insert persons name here>" This is what it is at Hornsby Council. Dunno about others tho
