I don't think I have a problem, but my sub amp does cut out at high volumes. I have no time to fix/play around with it

And no unsightly holes through the petrol tank...
I'll see how this spot can handle some serious watts when i finally get around to putting everything back in.
petrol tank is under the rear seat so u wont go through it from the boot
I used to have mine on a threaded bolt that was sticking out down the bottom passenger corner of the back rest. I found a random nut and screwed it on. I moved it coz the ground cables would be too long for my new setup.
btw, love the new signature tim :bowrofl: I don't think its true :P
do u i remember correctly wen i say a ground wire shoulndt more then 50cm long ??

Amp is under passanger seat so its grounded to the right front passanger seat bolt.

Yep, ground wires should be as short as possible.
Multiple ground wires (for amps) should be to the same point
Try and keep the wire as large as possible.

mine is behind the passenger side carpet, i think near the electric arial motor, although my alpine amp has cut out at high volume without getting too hot so i guess there could be something there. When i get the boot install done properly i'll be re-doing most of the wiring aswell and using a higher guage cable (well, lower guage really) .....lets say THICKER cable... hopefully that will fix that problem.
Mine are earthed all over the car on the chassis. Mind you, on our test car I have quite a few earth points from the battery (like about ten of em...)

Yeah it's ugly but it's a test bench on wheels.

Hi there. Just a question (bit of a noob when it comes to wiring amps in), why does the ground cable have to be less than 50cm? What happenes if the amp is grounded direct to the battery?

Dont have to ground directly to the battery. If you have problems, u can run a wire from the ground of the battery to the chassis at the back of the car, and still ground your amps to a single solid location in the boot.
Grounding to the battery directly will not yield better results usually as the car chassis acts as a better conductor than a single wire. Of course your battery is grounded to the chassis. You would have a better chance upgrading the ground wires in engine bay and/or having a really thick short cable for the rear ground.

Okay. Just when I installed my CB, I tried attaching a ground wire to bodywork, and was fairly noisy. When I put it direct to the battery (as I have it now), it was clear...
Ok, this thread again. noticed a few more ppl with nice stereos lurking around. wcani85 and the personn with the two kicker amps. where have u grounded ur amps?

did you scratch the paint off so it was touching bare metal? Where abouts did you try to ground it to, not plastic i hope?

I dont have an amp in the boot but the previous owner did and he left some of the ground cable behind. It seems that he bolted a grounding point to the metal underside of the back shelf and grounded to that. My amp under my front seat is grounded to the bolt holding the seat down.
