My current car is a TR Magna 1992... Completely stock. This is about to change, with your help and advice ;)
[list:a98d47720a]Mods to be:[/list:u:a98d47720a]
>> Air filter (K&N Pod - with Cold Air Duct)
>> Mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust -- with new muffler tip
>> Extractors
>> Lowered full 40mm
>> Bodykit (need some help here :P)
>> Alloy mags (16 or 17 inch?)
>> Resprayed, from white to gun metal grey or similar
>> Tail and front lights tinted (where? how?)
As you can see, its a fairly big undertaking for a lowly 18 year old, financing everything... as such I'm expecting all this to occur over a 6 to 12 month time frame...
As you can see I'm unsure of a few things (I went into the shop on Saturday and I looked blindly at the sales rep when he asked me if my engine was carby or injected...)
I know so far that the first 3 items will set me back around $800 - $1000.
How much does it cost to have a car lowered, and resprayed? And where would I go about getting my lights tinted... is it legal?
And finally, what bodykits are avaliable for a TR, and how much would one retail for?
Thanks heaps!

I got my 99 lowered with KIng springs on friday
think Igot a really good price .
$440 including 4 wheel align.
Try and get the alloys and lowering done at the
same place. It will give you more bargaining power.
Thats what I did. Bought a set of 18s week an half ago
gave them a call a couple of days later and asked them
to do me a deal on lowering. They were almost $100
cheaper than anywhere else.
You sure you want a respray?

I would say your car is fuel injected.
I would go air filter first, then muffler, then extractors, then suspension then mags.
Next Body kit and then a full respray.
Forget the tinted tail lights, they are illegal, but are easily done with a can of special tint stuff from autobarn, about $17.
Sounds like a good price for the first three mods.
About 3 grand for the paint job and the same again for the body kit.
Car lowering about 400 to 500 depending on where you go.
A few people are looking at vanity kits, but I would'nt have a clue where there getting them from.
Hope that helps.

Why would you want to paint the car?
Is there something you are not showing us in the pics?
Other thatn that what you have said sounds fine.

Does there have to be something wrong with a car to warrant a spraying? White just doesnt appeal to me as much as darker shades.

Honestly i'd be leaving it white, up to you of course. Just get rid of the pin stripe and colour code the rest of the bumpers. If you leave it white you can go black chrome wheels and give it a jap drift car look. I'm about a year ahead of you in the project. I bought my car when i was 18, and a year and a half later i've done what i sorta wanted to be done which is similar to your plan.
What engine do you have? Auto? Manual?

2.6L 4G54 SOHC 8V - Automatic Transmission.
The pinstripe is as good as gone already (being a real pain to peel off in some places :? )
Colour coding the excess trim.. Of course! That will make it appeal to me much more and its much cheaper.. thanks dude, I'll do that :D

2.6L Auto??
don't mean anything bad but i've driven 1 the same as yours and they are dogs. Give TButcher a personal message about a 2.6L engine he has. He's got like a 2.6 turbo with ECU or something along those lines and i'm sure a 5 speed manual could be easily sourced and modified to take the strain. Spend as much money on wheels, suspension, and brakes but don't worry about engine mods-for now

Nah mate... I can hardly afford stuff as it is, the last thing I need is a $3000-4000 invoice for a new engine/gearbox when the 2.6L Astron can do it just fine.
My primary objectives were to create a Magna unique to myself, good low rpm response and improved acceleration. All of which dont require a new engine/gearbox.

i didn't mean now mate, cause i know that it's all expensive. I'm now a 2nd yr apprentice, 3rd yr in december and i know how hard it is to modify a car. My car is different and the way i like because i know there aren't many TS magna's done, not many with a full exhaust, only myself and killbilly that i know of and NO1 with a full leather interior. It's totally different and individual like all cars on this site

Love the Carbon Fibre console and white dials... how much did that set you back?
Was it custom or is there a kit avaliable for it?

Kit? yeah right! nah i build racing yachts out of this stuff, so slapping some carbon on my console and around the dials wasn't a majer. The dials are avaliable, cost me $270 installed for the dials and i did the carbon while the dials were out. $270 is cheapish cause i score a bit of a discount cause of my car club

The lowering looks good too, is it the full 40mm or 60mm... maybe its just the wheels creating an illusion... its a very nice lowering.

Bro...not dissin the auto 4...but i used to have one... dont touch the engine...it wont make much diff...a worthwhile diff neway!
Spend all da $$$ on a cruiser look...dont kit it...
1.Get it all colour coded
2.dark tints (20%) if u get pulled ova 4 em just say they was done when u brought the car...they cant defect u as your car was made b4 the 35% rule came in
3. U want wheels? Go white wheels...they will look the SHIT! I had white 17s on my white wagon n it went off...
4. Drop it...read my signature at the bottom! Its true! *** the kit...TR/TS look fat dropped on their guts (as i know from choppin my springs ova one christmas) go down like 3"
with the left ova $ u can spend on a nice stereo!

I will back TZABOY and Hayden for the paint job, becoz you are going for complete paint change which means complete engine bay. A good paint job will cost you around $3000+ may be more.
and if you add that $3000 to the price of your car you can easily get and up model Mannual TE-TF in the Gun Metal Grey. so its not worth it.
that was just my thought.
