Hey guys, was just down at northfield looking at prefab speaker pods. They looked alright, but the price tag of $100 for how small they are seemed a little steep. So i went through to the wreckers to see what i could find. Ended up leaving with a set of pods from a vs commodore, the ones that go right along the bottom of the door, they dun quite size up, but i figure for $30 I may as well have a go at modifying them, has anyone else tried this?

Just get out some fibreglass and do em urself ;)
Not a bad steal for $30 though. Good luck.
Not sure what the size is, but best bet is to come through the back of the door into the pod. This will leave a nice finish, ie put ur hand through the actual pod hole to screw it in from the back.

Only tried a set in my early commodore (VH) - I got them to fit ok in the doors, but they don't sound quite as good in the VH door as they do in the VS one - the VS door must have a greater volume of air behind the trim, or better sound deadening...
Cheers,
Dave

yeah it was a bit of a spur of the moment thing, just wanted something nice that looked standard, and the colour isn't too different from the original, i gotta cut back the length about 2 cm, and also gotta take a little off the top of the pod so it'll match the magna trim, but should be a pretty quick and easy job, i'll work it out on the weekend.
