View Full Version : Towbar for KH Verada
Hey,
I'm after a towbar for my KH verada. I'll be towing a small trailer and an 18ft boat. As much as I dislike the ass end of my verada, I want to keep to keep it looking clean. The last thing I want is a big lump of steel sticking out the back and a section cut out my rear bar.
I want to go for a heavy duty bar to make sure I can tow the boat (weights close to 1200kg and downward weight of about 100kg on the ball.
Ive got prices on:
H/duty halls towbar (local adelaide company), $375 fitted and wired. But they want to cut a section out the bar.
Genuine mitsu h/duty towbar fitted and wired for $450.
Hayman and reese heavy duty fitted and wired for $560.
Has anyone installed a towbar for a KE/F/H verada? What brand bars have u got and what does it look like?

I had a genuine Mitsu towbar on my previous car - KH Verada. With the neck off, it was almost invisible. I am going to put the same sort of bar on my KJ in the near future. It was not, l should point out, a heavy duty towbar.

Go the heavy duty one, especially if you are towing a 18ft boat. Extra money is worth the peace of mind. I tow all the time and even though a normal tow bar can usually do the work, you would freak if you saw what pressure you were putting on certain points of your car if you are towing a lot of weight. Much better for your car having a heavy duty bar if you are towing weight.
I have a KH wagon with a HD hayman reece and the guy thought he had to cut a hole in the bumper when fitting it but i asked him to try to fit it before he cuts a hole in the bar. Turns out it didnt need to be cut. Lucky i asked him to try. Have a pic of you want.
Have seen many KH sedans with HD tow bars with no cut in the bumper bar.

Hall Towbars on Main North Road in Adelaide is a good aftermarket service. Take about 1.5 hours.
They fitted mine for $160 ?? (long time ago now).
