I was chasing replacement front struts, with little money so i wanted something that would last at a good price, the best price i could get was to buy Genuine ones. I haggled and got them for $112 each (monroes anyway but with mitsu part number stamp)
The genuine front struts are different part numbers for manual and auto. (in gen2 anyway)
Monroe GT gas were about $20 dearer.

if it were me spend the extra $20 itll be worth it, not that iv had munro shocks before
hopefully some of the experts can answer this but i dont see the point in just putting the standard ones back in for $20 extra id upgrade

I don't know that GT gas are an upgrade, I have had short service life from them in the past, they would proably be slightly firmer valving than standard struts. It will be interesting to see how long genuine ones last with regular hard use. (dirt roads etc)
At the time I couldn't afford to spend the extra $40 for the pair and there is nothing wrong with the ride on the genuine struts. done 5000km on them now. As I said before they are made my Monroe (stamped on the side next to a mitsu part number) and they appear to be as gas strut anyway.
ive got monroe gas shocks at the front. I knew the ride on my car was real smooth, it was amazing, then i did some work and looked at the struts which bear the sticker "Australia Rides Monroe Gas"
They are great. We drove on a road and my friend goes "heres the invisable bump..... just a sec... its coming.... wheres the invisible bump?"

I am pleased to have found this thread. Shocks are my next investment. I am still attempting to find out if I require lowered shocks though as the people who lowered the car before I bought it for the dealer aren't 100% sure what they put in it. :doubt:
Anyone with recomendations on what they've found to be a good set of shocks for a lowered TJ would be great, cost isn't an issue ............... yet.
thanks guys for the replys, but im still looking for the prices :(
umm, well wat im gonna do is wen i get a set of king springs (lows) im gonna get some shocks, now theyre now gonna be the monroes and im gonna get them both installed at the same time, but all i need to kno is the prices of the shockies so i can save up enough money to get it all done at once :D
