Why do they need to replace the glass?
Rear windows can be removed without breakage.
Front windscreens almost always break when removed, so I could understand if that was the case.
They should be able to replace the trim without replacing the glass.

they are trying to pull the wool over your eyes mate. They have to fix the problem, and that includes replacing your window tinting, because its their fault which necesetates the tinting being replaced. Do you have a RACQ or RACV or something in the northern territory? if so contact them, they will help you out with this kinda thing. Otherwise just keep at the dealership, threaten to go to the top, etc

Mitsi do have a fix for the rear glass problem for Magnas. As far as I know the tint being an aftermarket fit does not have to be covered under warranty, the same as an aftermarket engine part wouldn't be. I've had my glass replaced in my TJ and my dealer paid for the tint as I bought the car from them and had all my services done there, they where more than happy to look after me !!

I've had mine replaced recently - new glass and all (can still see the marks from the suction cup thingys). I had put off getting my window tinted for that very reason.
Not much help am I...

Actually, the window tint is not part of the car from factory. I would doubt very much that they would be held by any form of law that they would need to replace it. If they do, it would simply be from a customer service point of view.
Still worth a try though.

I think they are talking about the black plastic trim which surrounds the rear window is peeling off.
I too, have this problem where it's peeling at the top of the window edge and thought it was caused by the high pressure car wash or hoses at Carlovers. Therefore, I didn't think something like this would be covered under warranty.
Could someone elaborate as to why the glass needs replacing? I thought it would be a simple case of removing the peeling trim and then whacking some new trim in there.

Its the shiny coating on the rubber seal that is pealing off. The rubber that holds the window in itself is ok. It just looks like ****, coz some areas are nice and shiny, and others are mat.

The ones in the pic arent the ones with paint peeling,
the pics show the new seals around the window which looks like one complete seal.

The rubber seal actually comes as part of the glass on magna rear windows so you cant just replace the seal. Yes the rear window seals were modified just at the start of TL i think to a softer compound rubber.

I had my rear window replaced and yep, the Mitsubishi dealer sent me a cheque to cover the replacement cost of the tint. Very good if you ask me.
Funny thing is the rear window squeaks even more (the modified rear window) then it did before and it also has the special tape around it so it's off again this week and a Mitsubishi engineer is coming out to investigate!
To be honest, i have never had a car with such low kms with so many rattles and squeaks as my Ralliart.. And you guys say Mitusubishi's are high quality???? Think again.... It has been in 4 times for rear window squeaks (one time they had it for a week!) and it's still not fixed. And this is 1 problem of many! Time to sell i think and buy a Ford XR6T. :D
should have bought the XR6T in the first place...good luck with the sale!

Yes, i considered it immensly but the $$$ got the better of me.. The XR6T sure is a better quality car and i do wish i could turn back the clock. But for now my car has a permanent car park at Mitsubishi dealers across the state who are scratching their heads... Now the big boys (Mitsubishi Engineers) have been sumoned. Some say maybe a broken or faulty spot weld somewhere causing too much chassis flex which means an entire interior strip.
I can tell this is gonna get ****en ugly...
