View Full Version : Superlows and Pacemaker extractors
Hi Guys,
Just thought i would give everyone a heads up.
If you own a TJ or more importantly a 3.5litre engine and have pacemakers extractors with King Spring Superlows on the front.
Dont expect to pass a Roadworthy cert and expect to get a defect notice if you get your vehicle checked out by the police.
I took mine in for a RWC and it failed on the ride height. Also the legal ride height is no lower than 100mm with a fully laden vehicle (ie 4 adults). My car was 90mm at lowest point (extractors) with no one in it.
Also tint is another issue, the 2 front windows need to be 35% and you have to prove it (with receipts or something)
thats whack hey!
pacemakers on a 3 sit alot lower aswell apparently :|
so what did u end up doing??? remove springs?

Not yet, ive told the person im selling it to. They are going to get the springs taken out and the originals put back in. ($266)
The tint im getting the 2 front windows redone today ($120)

thats just plain gay, mine is very close with no passengers but i dont have the extractors so i should be right shouldn't it? Hope so cause im not changing anything as it handles like a dream at the moment. The tinting is a joke if you bought it like that, but then again i have no clue what mine is as i bought it all tinted. I would just get some receipt off a mate or another member of AMC, and then put on a dumb look when they test it and say they must of stuffed up at the tinting joint.
cheers

is this just because u have the pacemakers or because u have the lowered springs ?

i think he is saying cause the pacemakers sit lower than everything making them the lowest point of the car thus less than 100mm off the ground making them illegal if tested.

both.... lowered springs obviously drop the car... then the pacemakers actually sit lower than the stock headers.

does anyone know how much lower exactly do they sit? I might do some measurements tonight on my car to check its legality, but i think its right

Ill check mine tonight when i get home and let you know.
As for the tint. When i got the tint, i knew it was 20%, i just didnt think it was tested on a roadworthy (silly me)

lol no chance of raising the extractors!
if you want extractors take them into account when lowering your car, if you don't want extractors take the next lowest point into consideration.................
hey bain with the tint, did they actually pass a laser through it and test it or just ask for proof that it was legal(receipt)?

I knew there was a reason I only dropped 35mm all round.... I've heard that pacemakers hang about 30mm below the engine cross member on a 3L (this is only what I've heard - don't quote me). I've also heard that the wouldn't sit this low on a 3.5L.... but I'm skeptical (i rekon the block and head would be indentical externally)
