Hey All,

I went and bought a stock ECU and Loom yesterday, and theres quite a few plugs on the loom that i cant identify, does the EFI loom go to anything under the dash? if so, do i need to remove the dash to connect them (dreading it if i have to!). If anyone can scan the TP EFI and TN EFI wiring diagrams for me, that would be great. I know mad_lante has a real good book, so if your reading this mate, a scan of your book would be great!! Oh yeah, also, is the Auto trans computer wiring encorporated in the EFI loom? because there are a few connectors that look like they should go to the auto trans..

Thanks guys,

AF

hmm unfortunately the service manual wont tell u what the plugs are for unless you can describe where about there located eg. top right of the engine near the dizzy then i can go searching what it might be, also yes the loom does go under the dash for things like the reed switch from the speedo i dont think theres many things it needs under there tho
and im fairly sure the autotrans wire is incorperated with the eci wires too!
what i can do if u dont have one is scan the wiring diagram from the gregories for the eci cos thats easy to understand with all things go

edit: hang on the service manaul will show the plugs but not the plug type but it does stat where the wires from the plugs run too so ill scan that insted but you might want to watch out as i only have the service manual for the TP and im sure that in a few other things they changed the wire colours from the tn, also what did u get the loom from and did it have autotrans? or better still what wiring diagram do u want a scan from eg elite, lower spec manual....

Ok, from what i can determine, the loom i bought was from an automatic vehicle, it has all the plugs and **** for it. However, my OLD loom, which is still in the car, has been modified for the manual transmission, meaning i am gonna hafta leafe it in there :S Ok, so in the end im gonna end up with 2 looms in the car, an old carb - auto one modified for manual, and a EFI - auto one...Should all work ok i suspect..

Only thing is, i think the guy didnt know much about cars, i said to him: "I need an ECU and loom from a TN Magna", and he says to me: "Is it injected or carby". And the wiring colours seem to differ to that in my Gregories, so i guess i have a TP loom in my posession...Wont matter to much though...

I think you find that there are wires under the dash for the transmission computer. I cant remember exactly what else connects up, been a while since I did an carb to EFI conversion.

I know there are some plugs up behind where the ECU goes that alot of it plugs into.

Out of curiosity - how much did the ECU and wiring set you back (and sorry I forgot to get back to you :S)

ECU and wiring..about $100

Also, where does the Stock ECU get its power from? =/

From the wiring that runs out under the bonnet. I am pretty sure that it includes the relay box and all.

:doubt: Ouch....Umm....*thinks*.

What i have...basically...is the old carb / auto loom modified for a manual, and a EFI / auto loom, in one car. Theres some **** thats not in my car, like fuel pressure senders and ****...will this matter?

Im confused as to what to do lol...

i reckon a stock ECU would be harder to install than a Aftermarket one.

write the colours of the wires or take photos and ill see if i recognise any plugs

yer it gets it from the fuse box theres a fuse in there for it

ok, ive taken the whole dash out, so i know exactly where it has to go inside, but theres some things that dont match up?? I dunno, ill hafta get pics. Umm...I think im going to have to combine the looms somehow, they are so differant its not funny, the one i bought is obviously from a TP, it has all those later model plugs and ****...(dip**** wreckers never give you what you need) So...ANY wiring diagrams at all will be of help here, TN and TP - EFI, Auto and Manual! Might of been easier to just keep screwing with the Wolf :S

First thing is what did you do with the ECU that was in the car before all this happened

Second thing if your efi harness is still in the car then you will not have to use the loom you got with the new ECU cut the wires about 200mm from the connectors and join them to your efi loom. the only wire that comes from the TCU is the neutral safety switch.
If the ECU you bought is from a TP AUTO all you need is a ECU pinout diagram for the TN & TP i can give you a the diagrams for the TN but not the TP

i put a 89 Hyundai Sonata ecu into a 88 TN magna auto no probs

What i done with my Hawk ECU in my Turbo Magna was cut the harness 200mm leaving the connector that i got with the ECU and spliced into the old harness leaving the original connector in place in-case the new ECU packed in and i have to keep the car going

Erm..we have a misunderstanding....

FIRSTLY: The loom for my old ECU (the Wolf) Is being sold with the wolf.

SECONDLY: The loom thats in the car is a CARB / AUTO loom that has been modified to suit manual, the car has never run as EFI.

All i need to finish this **** off, is TN EFI Manual and Auto wiring diagrams.

I can provide you with the TP data, if you'll need it.

Already got that...ALTHOUGH, i could use the TP under dash wiring diagrams.

EDIT: I see you typing Sagna, hurry up im tired but i wanna read what you have to say :P:P

sorry about that computer playing up it just dawned on me that the first car you had was the efi and when you done your conversion you never took the efi wiring i can give you the diagrams for the tn manual &auto but its only from the gregorys book

Hmm..this is gonna be harder than i thought, the dash loom is gonna need replacing, but the dash loom isnt just a dash loom, it runs to the rear of the car aswell...***ing brilliant...

And as i dont trust any ****ing wrecker to pull the loom out for me, do any of you guys have a dash / rest of car loom they will sell me? Needs to be out of a TP EFI.
