Ive been getting quotes from places around Brisbane and so far the best option is to just replace the Muffler with a Straight-Thru, leaving the pipe and 2 resonators in tact. The guy mentioned that this should make it sound quite nice without spending too much. Will this be a good idea, or should i get the whole pipe replaced?
BTW, quoted $150 for a new s/s muffler (hi-flow).
Thanx

pretty sure there are slight gains for a VRX when replacing just the rear muffler.
about the size of the exhaust piping, there's so much it's this size, its that size............it reduces in size here here and here or wait is it there there and there  going on
i'm replacing the whole f*ckin thing so i know exactly what size it is all the way through lol

That's a very good price. Most muffler shops don't want to give much away. Esp when it costs about $40-50 for a muffler and takes barely 15mins to fit it. Handy margins hey?
Make sure it IS a 2.5" muffler and not a 2.25".
The straight thru (half bend whatever) will help when you've got a budget in mind. You can always upgrade to 2.5" pipe from the cat back later down the track when you come into some funds because you can keep the 2.5" muffler you're wanting to fit now. As long as you retain two resonators when you go the 2.5" or larger system, you wont be driven mad by drone or WORSE: sound like an Excel.
