Hi,
Alright, I know this is a MAGNA forum, but I thought given the amount of knowledge on here with respect to Astrons and carbys that I should be able to get some assistance.

The Triton has the old faithful 4G54B (2.6L)

The problem is the Triton has a carby on it, very similar to the TR carby. The vaccum system is rooted and it is basically a POS in it's present form. My ideas were:
1. Weber conversion
2. Old Sigma Carby (stuff all pollution crap)
3. EFI Conversion (pretty expensive as far as I can see - manifolds are damn expensive)

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try to find another carby first, the Triton 2.6L used the jap carby, It should interchangeable with a carby off a 2.6L Pajero or even the 86-90 mazda B2600 had the jap 4G54 and should be the same carby too.
I tried to use a Magna carby but wanted all the pollution gear back in place, From memory I had problems with vac ports in the wrong place and the wrong lever for the throttle cable.
I used to have a Triton that had the same problems as yours. luckily I found a bloke wrecking one privately and got the carby for $50. Wreckers wanted over $200 for one.

What are the EFI Manifolds for RWD 4G54 you can get? what are they worth?

The problem is more so with the pollution gear I think. The carby itself seems to be OK (it sprays not dribbles, accelerator pump is OK, etc). There is just no vaccum, which means that there is no timing advance, no secondaries opening, etc.

The EFI RWD conversions were through this guy http://www.4gmitsubishi.cjb.net/ but he has gone. From memory he wanted about $400 for the manifold.

The EFI conversion is basically the first gen intake manifold, with the throttle body modified to suit.

a fella in townsville did a weber conversion to his triton. reckons it was the best idea hes ever had. of course he had the same overfuelling problems as i had with mine, but its easily fixed with a few different jets

I knew that the EFI conversion was a modded 1st gen Magna one!

The Weber conversion is tempting, I had a mate tell me yesterday that he had a mechanic disconnect all the pollution gear on his old Triton and never looked back (he didnt know the details though). Frankly, I think the carby is as big of a crapper as the old Magnas have.

Honestly, I dont think I know enough about carbys (EFI is just so much easier for me to understand) to do a jet change, where they are concerned I know squat.
