View Full Version : LED Park Lamp Globes Problem

Done a quick search and cant find an answer for this one.
I have changed my standard park lamps over to LED ones and the passenger side will not light for love nor money.
I've tried all the obvious things like placing the LED globe that does light onto the passenger side, but with no success.
I dragged the test lamp out and it seems that the holder assembly's power comes through the opposite to the drivers side (ie negative through the middle and positive from outside)
Any ideas???

Have you got a grounding problem?

Were your filament bulbs dimmer than other similar cars' lights?

Sounds like your left light has lost its ground, so its completing its circuit somewhere else. That's ok when they're unpolarised filaments which may be running in series (dimmer) but when you put in LEDs (polarised +ve/-ve) the one that's reversed polarity won't light.

What you say makes sense to me but how do i go about fixing the problem?

turn the led around

turn the led aroundNo good, its the push in and turn type so polarity is not affected by turning it around. But thanx for your suggestion.

Rewire the parker light wires on the side that doesn't light up then.

That being said, I am swapping my parkers about so why stop there eh?:bowrofl:

You'll have to rewire it is the short answer.

A normal globe doesn't care about polarity, so it doesn't matter what the wiring is like, as long as theres a +ve and a -ve. An LED WILL NOT WORK if the polarity is reversed.
