how much did it cost you all up?

Altogether it was $1060 from Computer Line Alignments in Preston. That was including a front and rear wheel alignment as well.

I bought a whiteline swaybar for a stock Exec from Anthony, Philcom Rally. Fitted in under 2 hours. You really notice the difference. The car stays flatter and turns in better. For $165 delivered you can't go wrong. If you're not confident have it fitted professionally cause it's better to be safe than save a few dollars. If you only do one mod this is it!

Exactly - most new car maufacturers have wised up to the fact that you don't need to put super-hard springs and struts into a car to get it to handle.

Swaybars are a better investment for improving the handling of a vehicle than lowered springs - found this out the hard way with a few cars I owned previously...

You get better handling without sacrificing the ride quality - win-win situation.

Was that front or rear swaybar?
My TH already has a stock rear swaybar...

all TL have stock front and rear, but i would assume the Whitline ones to be better over the stock units.

The front caster is not meant to be the same left/right on road cars, as it compensates for the crown of the road.

Bugger that, why should it? Road vary a great deal in how much the slope, or even if they do at all. Let mine sit flat, thanks.

Reminds me of my local tyre joint - the guy did a wheel alignment and told me he delerately left a slight righthandedness in it, to compensate for the angle of the road. No thanks, let mine drive straight, and I'll compensate for it myself. :)

That's why I said "road-going" cars, i.e. 99% of the populace' cars out there. Mine is set up even on both sides.

yes good alignment and suspension setup makes a HUGE difference to driving pleasure. Makes you WANT to drive. :)

You can have them flat if you want but you will be replacing the inside tyre (drivers side) alot more as it will wear unevenly you dont notice the diference in the adjustment it is like a couple of (mm) that is all and it will save you couple of $$ anyway's it is your car and you can have the way you want.

There is a front swaybar on all of the magnas - the difference is that the OEM swaybar is hollow tube, whereas the whiteline one is a solid version (but same diameter).

The rear one is apparently not that difficult to fit, but the front you need to be David Copperfield (ie. magic) to remove :P

In a price vs. gain comparison, the rear swaybar makes the most difference (I am in the midst of purchasing one, along with a strut brace, and pairing these with some 9000Klms old 2003 VRX springs/struts on my TJ executive)...

Why use the VRX springs + Struts - well, the springs are lower and harder than the exec springs, and the shocks are a bit better too - I want OEM ride quality, but better handling - seems like a sweet deal to me :)

You guys are discussion my next mods which I need advise on.

1999 th 3lt executive - suspension - pedders sports rider struts, shocks, lowered spirngs, front tower strut brace (between the front shock towers) and 22mm rear swaybar and front camber kit.

Very happy with the whole car except I still think the front needs to be tightened up a bit.

I am looking at a front bar upgrade.

- Can anyone advise what the size of the front bar is on these models in stock form?
- Has anyone upgraded the front bar and if so to what size?
- If anyone has done the front bar what is their opinikon of the upgrade.

Cheers

I thought the stock front sway bar was a hollow 22mm bar???

The front bar is a solid 24mm bar. The rear bar is 20mm (fixed) bar. Originally I was going to get front and rear camber kits as well, but I got advised not to worry about it 'cause after we put in on the machine we found the rear camber is already running at -1 degree and the front camber is about -2/3 of a degree (that's with King low springs). I may put a front camber bolt kit in a couple of weeks anyway run it at about -1.

The front caster was a different story 'cause the left was 2 degrees and the right was 3 degrees which was causing it to always pull to the left. I didn't get the anti-lift kit, but on their own, I think a caster kit fitted would be around the $200-250(ish) mark.

wat is the difference between a strutbrace and a sway bar?

A strut brace bolts between the front suspension towers and stops the movement between them (this is inevitable). Reduces the body flex.

A sway bar is an integral part of the suspension that 'balances' out bodyroll by trying to 'lift' the side that has the most weight on it and transfer it the the side with the least (poor explanation I know).
