*EDIT* There's pics on Page 2

Hey guys,

Guess what my latest mod is?
hmmm, guess the topic/subject heading gives it away, huh.

Yup, I picked myself up a Leather Interior for my TS Wagon. :D
Colour = Gray
Includes: front seats, back seat, door trims (leather only on the trim bit above the arm rest)
Condition: Used but still good (no rips).
Where from: Happy to plug these guys - they were very friendly and helpful - Magna's-R-Us in Lilydale.

I plan to put it in this weekend and take some photo's so stay tuned if you wish.

I'm told it's out of a 1996 KS Verada Wagon (the seats are the same as a Verada ones), but I'm yet to see a KS Verada with leather. I thought it may have come from a Diamante but the door trims are the same as our Verada's and I think the Diamante's have different door trims.
Does anyone know if the TR/TS (KR/KS) came out with Leather as an option and how common/rare these are ?

Also, while I have the seats out, I'll give the interior (carpet, etc.) a good clean - Does anyone have any suggestions of other things I should consider doing while I have the seats out ?

Thanks.

Like Gerard I haven't seen Leather in an aussie 2nd gen...could've been an expensive and rare option.
Here are some pics of our 2nd gen Diamante in an American wreckers some have leather trim.

Note: these pics get updated and changed.

What did the complete trim cost you?
While you have the seats out remove the console and clean the carpet under there properly too.

Hey, Interesting site! That light blue wagon must be the worst colour I've ever seen on a Diamante/Magna. http://www.msrecycling.com/cars/053044.htm

If you look at the attached Diamante Interior - the door trims are different - interesting.

even sigmas had optional leather interior. (only seen one!) i'd be surprised if it wasn't an option for the 2nd gens.

An afterthought...
While I'm happy to give the guys at Magna's-R-us a plug, please don't hassle them - they do not have another set  (as at 13/04/2005).

Does anyone have suggestions on how to clean and care for Leather ? Never had a leather interior before and these do need some tender care.

mmm ive never seen leather stock on a second gen either....
i have kh verada leather in mine, fits wonderfully in the front but the back seats overlap by about 5cm, very hard to tell but im going to drill two holes and zippy tie the seat clips in should work easily still firm as in there, if a perfectionist like myself ull need some carpet to run down next to the side/top of the rear seats, looks blinging though...just buy some leather care treatment, the good stuff, its about 30$ a bottle and i doubt it lasts long.

Velour. I use throwover seat covers on the front and they are great because I can keep the seat appearance clean by regularly washing the covers. One day I'm going to remove the back cushions and give them a good steam clean.

Best leather care stuff i hav ever used is Meguairs Rich Leather Conditioner... its in a black squirty bottle, similar to the one the gold class polish comes in.

When ya use it, its like whipped butter and a bit hard to squirt out but it does a damn fine job, it doesnt leave it greasy like others i have used (as long as ya follow directions on bottle) and it doesnt make them really shiny... nothing worse than having new leather and using something on it that makes it high gloss, becuase as it wears off it goes dull in places.

It isnt too hard to look after leather, just regular care, just like you have to wash ur car and vacuum it, but i clean mums new mazda6 and the leather is easy as to look after

There was no leather options on the KS Verada but there was on the export model that was sold in England during the 90's. Mitsubishi called it the Sigma Estate. The imformation is from the english brochure that I have.

HooHa, I finished installing the Leather Interior.

The removal of the seats and door trims (and thorough cleaning) was time consuming but well worth it. It all went relatively smoothly. No major drama's or problems – I broke a door handle (Cracked the clip) but that’s easily replaced.

In the end I cleaned the Leather with “Mothers” products. I used a Leather Cleaner then a Leather Conditioner. I also took the opportunity to clean all the carpets, centre console, door trims, etc. Took me most of the weekend to do but looks great & I’m a Happy Boy.

My Hints for interior removal/install are…
(things that were not obvious to me – being a non-mechanically minded person)
1. When removing the bottom of the rear seat - it is attached with two clips which attach it to the floor - these are located at the bottom front and slide forward to release (took me a while to figure that easy one out).
2. When removing the back of the rear seat (split fold type), undo the 2 bolts at either side (near the doors) then slide them off the centre bracket. Don’t bother undoing the bolts on the centre bracket and removing the whole centre bracket like I did. It was only when going to install the new interior that I realised that this was not necessary.
3. When putting the seats back in (especially when different seats like in my case) – if the bolts don’t seam to line up. Release the runner adjustment (like you were moving the seat back or forward to suit a different driver). One of my runners was more forward than the other which resulted in the bolts not being in line with the floor.

As promised, here's some photos. (first one is the before shot - rest are after shots)...

Looks pretty sweet. How did you get the leather in the second picture, on the door trim to have that wavy effect? I'm gonna try for that with red leather on my 3rd gen.

Don't ask me - that's how it came. Seats have a similar effect (but not as much).
Looks good tho - Good luck with yours.

Looks good, would be better with black leather though .
Just one question, you have a 2nd gen right? is that a 3rd gen steering wheel? and if so does fit perfectly onto the 2nd gen steering column? i wanna put a 3rd gen steering wheel onto mine but dunno if it fits.

No, it's a 2nd gen steering wheel. It's an airbag type. Great for safety reasons (and I like the look of it) but only problem is that when it's worn (like mine is) you can't just go and replace it with something from Autobarn. That's why it has a cover on it - which by chance matches well anyway (leather look).
I don't know if a 3rd gen steering wheel would fit a 2nd gen.

Okay, just spoke with a friendly lady from Mitsubishi Customer Service (asked the question on the MMA website).
She has confirmed that Leather did come out in the Australian KS Verada (not a Magna until 2000). But they are unable to say how many.

So if your interested, keep a watch out guys'n'gals, there may be others appear for sale or at wreckers every now and then.

For all those who asked and PMed me wanting to know where they can get a leather interior...

I know this option may not be a factory leather interior but it may be the next best thing...
See this thread under the for sale section...

For those who wanted a leather interior for a 2nd Gen...
(and those who happen to have some spare cash lying around - bet that reduced the list)...
First 'stock' leather interior I've see since mine.

Maybe an idea - buy this, take out what you want (maybe stick your interior, etc. back in) and then sell it ??? (maybe?)
