I realise your's is a six but the temp gauge would be the same,
I have had a lot of gen2 4cyl's they have all sat the temp gauge constantly on half way or just under it, even when it's below freezing outside they just take longer to walm up. The only one I had that ran colder than this turned out to have no thermostat in it. Any that I have had that go over halfway have had a coolant leak somewhere. I also had one that had a bad sensor for the fans, they wouldn't cut in and it got hot at low speeds.

Yeah, mine sits about halfway or a little lower. Sits at 1/3 for a while when heating up

Yeah,
Mine too sit half way, but when i had to get my radiator fixed. they said it was running tooo hot. And then we found it was running on cold again. So they put another Themostate in it for me and now it's runs well. i was also told that with magna if they arent running at half they don't run like they should. So they then go thru more petrol than they should.... I just wanted to see where everyone else temp ran at.

That is true, the motor is designed to run at about 88degrees. If it is too cold combistion is not complete and the ECU will also provide a richer mixture to compensate for this.

If you want to, pop over sometime and I can do a proper temp check to re assure you it is running at the correct temp.

Mine sits about half too except when it's cool out then it's about 1/3.

Thanks. I may take you up on this offer.

sits dead on half way when warm except when thermostat was stuffed.
Oh also when the temp sensor had come loose it would be jumping up and down. All it needed though was to be tightened and now she sits on halfway. Had me scared though

used to sit just over haflway until i gave the radiator a flush and replaced thermostat and wotnot and now it runs at just slightly under halfway.

Mine sits exactly half way after I've driven it for at least 7 odd minutes. Takes a while to start moving up though.

Mine used to fluctuate between cold and half-way, depends on the outside degree, it would be between cold and half, then idleing it would be about half, or a tiny fraction over, but never any higher.. Has done this from brand new..! Recently I had the heads, valve stem seals, water pump, lifters, timing belt, both cv's, thermo, everything replaced, and it runs a tiny fraction over half way at all times, even on cold nights, never any higher  and when I put me foot down at the lights, it does an annoying tap tap tap everytime in the motor sumwhere, not a lifter tick tick tick! its driving me nuts

Exactly half way, cold or hot weather, does not budge. Only time it sits under half is when it hasnt managed to warm up before I hit a freeway; the extra air flow keeping it cool.

Yeah mine sits at 50% sometimes on 35%, it doesn't seem to rely on outside tmep for mine. Really weird, But it never tuns hot so i am not worried.
