ok first of all im new to these boards 8)

i have an 88 TN Magna elante and power lags heaps under like 2.5 thousand revs.... i was wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, and if so r there any mods which i can do to fix it........ like induction, or thermo or something reasonable cheap cos im not looking at spending much money on this car :)

thanks guys

Is it an auto or a manual?

K&N filter, and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator will help the flat spots.

A new straight thru muffler will help the top end and free up a little low end too (for more results you can do the whole system, but seen as though you said cheap...a muffler swap will be the most cost effective option)

I agree with Killbilly, go for a muffler upgrade to free up the flow... then work on the filter... However FPR has no use for your case right now... you can do it later, but with these 2 mods.. it's not worth the money at this stage.

CHEERS...

if it's a Problem that you are mentioning, like flat spots in the torque delivery, then a muffler or whatever won't help. check the spark plugs and ignition leads. these are the 2 major causes of huge power lags. check the service logs to see if service has been done regularly. but yea, i would get the plugs, leads changed (if your mileage is over 150k and still using the very first set of leads) first. then go get some injector cleaners to clear out the carbon deposit build up which could be quite substantial if it has not been checked for a car that age. shouldnt be too expensive, prob abt $250 to do get the parts and labour.

Oh yeah I just realised what I said..
The FPR wouldn't be any use until you've done extractors, exhaust and some porting and polishing.

D'oh

ok first of all

its a manual... im not sure y u asked but anyway

ok i think ive narrowed it down.... a while back i had some problems, the car kept stalling and my taco would ape.... the distributer was replaced and ever since i have had these power problems and it never happened befor then.... so im taking a stab in the dark and saying there is something wrong there..

also i already have plans to get a fee flow muffler installed as well as a pod filter.... any idea how i can upgrade the snorkel?? or cold air induction?

thanks guys
