For those of you paying ridiculous prices for clear side indicators. ($40.00 plus  )
Did you know that stock VX Commodore ones clip straight in?

I own both a VX Series II SS and a TR Magna, and after seeing the prices of clear indicators, I thought I try to see if the VX ones fitted. They do!

Just use the Magna lamp holder (it fits in the the Holden lens) and you don't even need a wiring change.

$14.00 each for new genuine ones from Ozeparts. Cheaper from a wrecker.

Have fun.

As if $40 is
Do you know the price of them brand new?

I thought you had to make the existing hole a bit bigger to fit in the commodore ones.
Pretty sure thats what WTCHME did...

Yeah i have the VX Commodore clear ones on mine and they look great. They had to be modified only very slightly to get them to fit TE onwards. Just a matter of taking off a little clip off the back of the light. They look much better than the others floating around for Magna's and are much cheaper.
Have seen a set of clears which look identical to the orange ones that the magna's come with but not sure what they are off. Think it might be a Pajero and not sure what they cost.

VT series 2 and up are all the same.. VT series are to but they are orange not clear...

Why would you want to put commodore blinkers on your magna as they say commodore as soon as you look at them... You just wouldnt do it to ur magna... :D

Stock Magna ones? Yep $11.00 ea. Paying $40.00 plus for clear is a BIG rip off.

Pretty sure thats what CHEM did... As far as TR Magnas go. Nope. My VX one fitted straight in. Other model Magnas? Don't know.

Ozeparts have the flatter uglier look side indicators for $50 a pair and the wreckers asked for $35/$40...

Just an other note.

VY Commodore on have a similar shape to the stock TR ones.

BUT, I know VY ones aren't a straight fit to VT/VX, so would need some sort of mod to fit Magnas.

If so where the hell from? No. $11.00 each for amber.
So $40.00 plus a pair for clear is (IMHO) a rip off. If they can be produced for $11.00ea for amber then clear should cost the same.

BTW My VX Commodore ones have "Hella" cast into their body, so don't tell people you have GMH lights, tell 'em they're Hellas.

I agree with that, but the point is that unfortunately for some reason they dont cost that,
Brand new clear indicators from Mitsubishi are just under $100 if i remember correctly.
I rather pay $40 :P

I got a set of the commodore ones and they didnt fit in.

I got a set of the commodore ones and they didn't fit in.You're either not holding your mouth right, or your hammer isn't heavy enough. :D

They (VX) DO just fit in with NO mods to my TR. Really. Truly. ;)

vx ones fitted on my KE, i just had to remove the rear clip, and use silicon to stick them on. You also need to buy orange bulbs for them. But the wiring loom is identical.

Just dont forget the harder they are to put in, the harder they are to get out (watch that paintwork! )... I went the OZEpart option and meh, i'm happy with them... got them ages ago.

What did you have to mod? Pics?
Could a Holden owner like me do it, or do you need a brain?
How much $$$$?

are u talking to me?

I cant remember exactly what i did, cause it was years back now.. I know the globe thingo didnt fit straight in, i needed to cut out a bit of plastic inside the holden indicator.

then to clip it on the car, cause it was a tad bit smaller, i had to use some double sided tape. sounds like a dodgey job, but it worked.

as for price, no idea.. mate gave me the indicators..

How much $$$$?i paid $35 for brand new vx blinkers off ebay, i went to a wrecking yard and measured the hole on a commordore and took my blinker out of my tr and i had to file about 2mm out of the hole to make it slightly bigger then i painted the edge and the blinker fits in just as good as a commordore.
cheers

ps - i will take photos tommorrow and post them up

Sorry, but they are not of a similar shape, the VY is squarish, the TR/TS is roundish like the older Commodores. I'm not saying that they do not fit, just they arn't the same shape.

Anyway enough of my useless input :P

I've found the metal plates behind the brake pads are perfect for removing indicators with...(at wreckers). I use a butterknife at home.

Oh...me gots mine from pornstar, but apparently they don't fit 2nd gens. dunno

Guys stop filing the hole bigger. All you got to do is cut the clip to make the VX blinker fit on a 3rd gen.

The TR ones aren't a full oval like the VX, they're sort of truncated at one end. So are the VY lenses.
Yes they're (VY) squarish, but they're non-symmetrical like the TR.

ps - i will take photos tommorrow and post them up I'm surprised you had to file the hole in your TR. As I said in my first post, I un-clipped the ones out of my VX, changed the lamp-holder, and they (VX) clipped straight into my TR. Mines' a 1991 model, maybe the later models are different?

i couldnt get the blinker in, i proberly could have if i i spent a bit more time trying but it would have been a ***** to get out again and by filing the hole the blinkers goes in just as good as it would on a commordore.

So whats the best option for a cheap clear indicator to suit a TJ, with minimal or no modification which fits?

I got mine off ebay for $40 with orange bulbs included. They were a no name brand and therefore not off another car.

They are the exact same shape as the stock amber indicators and they popped straight in so they look designed for the car.

So yeah I'd keep an eye out on ebay. The dude I got mine off has the username: oz-rc

I got some from a pajero or some other mitsubishi
$35 posted for ya.
They fit in fine, but might need a little glue or something to hold one of them in.
