Hey guys i had a Lukey LR2779 muffler installed on my 96 TE today and i haven't noticed
much difference in performance or in the sound it is supposed to make. Can any one of you
guys who have the same muffler clarify the matter and tell me what i need to change in the
exhaust system to get a better sound.
Cheers
Wait 2 -3 weeks. It will sound better and probably perform better. Other than that open your window :bowrofl: The Lukey LR2779 is not supposed to be a "loud" muffler as such. In fact it is quite quiet. It has a nice note to it when you floor it however. Again wait 2 - 3 weeks. It will sound better with time. You have to give it a chance to bed in.

Is is worth getting rid of the resonator ?

I wouldn't. It's a highly debated topic but most prefer to leave it. You will find there aren't too many ways of making a V6 sound even remotely similar to a V8 on a budget. I'd say bigger piping and extractors would be a step in the right direction but you don't want to get sum big mofo sports exhaust that sounds like a wet fart. Usually what happens is people who have excessively loud exhausts get bored of them after a while and long trips can really become a pain in the backside. Passengers are alike. I would keep it simple. I would probably leave it how it is. It will sound nice in a few weeks trust me. When I first got mine on I could hardly hear it. After it set in it sounded just right.

Thanks man
For now I would say definitely leave it and just see what it's like in 3 weeks time. Then.... if you're not happy about it you may want to look at a few extra mods like pacemaker, wildcat or RPW extractors and larger exhaust piping. Tell me what it sounds like it 3 weeks time driving along in 3rd or 4th gear with the driver's side window wound all the way down.

That lukey muffler with no resonator sounds alot scarier than a wet fart.
Very loud...

How can you tell what the model number is? On Lukey's web site they only refer to them by name..

hmm, even with the Lukey muffler you will hear the difference compared to your stock muffler! If it's as quiet as your stockie then I think tthe exhaust dealer may have dogged you.

a small diff at that
after i got my lukey i thought they hadnt even chagned the muffler, about 2 weeks later i noticed a nicer sound but not loud enuff for my liking but under heavy load (had to help my sister and her bf move house, my car is only one with towball in family) it doenst sound half bad
but the performance? the only thing u will notice really is that it wants to rev more uptop, i noticed that after i gave it WOT on morley drive de wanted to rev that little more uptop but nothing much else apart from that
