Hooked my new iPod Photo up to the AUX input on my Eclipse headunit today unleashing access to 40GB of MP3 goodness in my car - these things are fantastic!

Works so much better than using the iTrip type FM modulators. Shame I dont have an Alpine deck though as their iPod adpater (KCA-420i) is even better again apparently.

I heard the alpine decks are slow to load and search tracks... Put me off upgrading.

iTrips suckass... Good to see you like it! Mmm 40 gb... I have trouble changing tracks while driving though, back and forth is fine, but finding an artist etc takes talent on the road. Any ideas?

Consider going the Belkin Car connector kit to get some real line out action happening whilst charging ur battery

If you want a neat little iPod suction holder go to supercheap auto and buy a concave mirror with a suction cap $~6 and a long flexible arm. Rip off the mirror carefully, insert into ashtray and there you are... Enjoi!

I've also been looking at the Belkin TuneDok:

But am unsure if it will fit perfectley/properly in the Magna cup-holders...

I've heard iRiver are reasearching voice control into their future models - for uses liek the car. Dunno if it's true or not, but hey, would be cool!

sounds cool, but my stereo is way too loud to hear my voice over it. A small interface would be cool, with a little keyboard or something.

Got my TuneDok car holder for the iPod today, fits snuggly in the cup holders and looks really good. Had to visit DSE though to get a 3.5mm to 3.5mm "L" shaped stereo adapter to make the cables look neet and fit in around my ash-tray which sits partly open and with the aid of some sticky back velcro helps to hold the face of my Uniden UH013 CB Radio on.

A line out is an unattenuated signal. It is cleaner and less susceptible to intereference. It is always better to use line out signals over a headphone jack. With a headphone jack if you turn the volume down on the ipod, the amp will be amplifying a much weaker signal, which equates to poorer quality. Conversely if the ipod is set too high through the headphone jacks, it will send a distorted signal due to clipping.

Using the line out means that the volume level is at a set point. And will not adjust if you adjust the volume on the ipod. (use the headunit to adjust volume)

Ipods have lineouts through the lower data adapter. Ul need a Belkin type charger to convert this to minijack/rca.

Small note, the belkin chargers have a volume control on them to adjust the volume as well. So I guess it is not a true Line out signal. There is a way to disable this (involves opening it up and rewiring it, but meh...)

low level output isn't filtered or amped therefor is clearer.
