ok guys, what are ur opinions on the following subs:
- Alpine type X
- Eclipse (any model)
- DD
- Image Dynamics IDMAX
- JL
i'm looking for a nice deep sounding sub, and only 1..not 2...
I know i haven't been very specific on the exact model of any of the subs, but maybe u could recommend a model? or any different models to the ones above? It'd be great to have some feedback if you've actually heard any of these subs too.
Well seeing as you have asked, I would choose them in this order:
IDMAX - So long as you give it the power (800-1100) they are great!
DD - Which model?
JL - Which model?
Alpine type X - Fantastic but a little artificial sounding unfortunately.
Eclipse (any model) - Again a little artificial and proved to be somewhat unreliable from what I've heard.
Now to add a few more to your audition list which are on or above par with the afore mentioned subs, try these:
RE Audio XXX12

Diamond TDX12

Phoenix Gold Ti12D

Boston G512

Vibe Space12

ID MAX and RE XXX
Both awesome subs.
But what amp have you got?
The sub shouldnt be the be all of your system either. It plays one minor aspect of the whole. Not as important considering the whole frequency range. But you have some good starting points there if you can afford it.
Peace

Yeah, i respect your opinion and all cause ur well imformed but obviously it all comes down to a budget right.
My bro works at alberts as an installer (9yrs) and he rekons that for your money eclipse subs will give an awsome gain in the boot, but then again he is really only informing me of what they have on THEIR shelf.
I mean in my opinion; and im a huge alpine fan (h/u and amps mainly) but if ya gonna spend that kind of money on a type-x u can get heaps better subs.

Go for a new Alpine Type R, out this week, have been revised and now are 500wrms they sound sweet and go very hard. Cheaper than the other ones you listed too.

i haven't got an amp at the moment, so i'll probably be getting a monoblock to power my sub. Im really looking at getting a sub less than $800 and have 800+wrms, but i guess i just have to listen to the subs and see which one i like better.
What about the RE SX subs?? they still have 1000wrms but are $420 cheaper than the RE XXX...
If these new Alpine Type-R turn out any good i might consider buying 2 if the price is right, but for now i'm just looking for 1 sub :)
