I want to get 6 1/2" splits in the front. I really dont care how much they cost, but i am after opinions on who thinks what is best. Ideally the splits i end up getting will be used to compete in comps (SPL). But decent quality is also important

What's your budget?

That helps a lot in recommending stuff

Well for the splits i will spend up to $1k, i am just looking for reccommendations so i know what to check out. But for real lomu series make amps, sub and splits. Everything a competitor needs, but u need a fat wallet for that shit.

i saw a documentry on jona lomu. when he took delivery of his car fusion told him not to put the volume over a certain level cuz it would give him whiplash. it was the funniest thing i'd ever heard til they showed the back of the car    No wonder it was a 4WD, u'd need it to pull all the shit around. it was insane.

1K for splits is crazyness - i have Boston Accoutic Rally Edition Splits - cost about 650 brand new and they are unreal - for the full 1K i got the splits and hte 6x9' to match - and anyone who has heard my system knows it is loud - but the important thing to remember is these must be amped - this quality of speaker is wasted on teh H/U (no offence to anyone who is running it this way because i did as well until I got my amp) and then when you run amps - the improvement is crazyness levels - anyone who has seen my amp stares in disbelief - but I claim it was worth every cent!!

the old story is always the same, what I have sounds great but most have never really sat in a car with high end gear and I mean high end, Focal Utopias may be $1,000 a set of Splits, $1,300 for a Sub but heck are they sweet. I'm not bagging the lower end stuff but when you make Amps, Decks, Speakers, and so on one of the things you make ain't gonna be great, and to me that usually the speakers the well know brands make. Or maybe it's just that I prefer the european sound over Japan and the USA as they all do have there own sound.

I've got Boston Pro Series 6.5" Splits. They sound awesome! Extremely chrisp sound and heaps of bass/mid-bass. They really come out at ya when the volume is up!

They are $900-1000 jobs. Not cheap, but well worth the investment when it comes to the pure listening pleasure.

When my car was getting work done at a stereo shop this week, the guy working there commented how good they sounded -- before he had any idea of what I had hidden inside my doors. So there was no BS sales crap there! I think I could've sold them too him. But he already sells them :D
