Hey guys
i'm planning to get new speakers for my TE. I was thinking between JL Audio or Diamond Audio.
Which one would you recommend between those 2 . My budget is about $400.
Also what type and brand of Amp do you guys recommend....
Thanks

I would rate the Diamonds higher but it depends which model. Everything has their good and crap range. Have you got any particular model numbers and specs in mind?
Amp anywhere from 2x50 watts to 2 x 150 watts depending on how loud you want to go and how much headroom. Also factor in money for sound deadening and the install.
Good amps: Audison, Diamond, Soundstream, Phass, Tru tech, Arc, PG etc etc.
Best bet is to find the speakers you love. Only way is by listening.
Then find the amp that has enough power to play them without distortion whilst still maintaining that sound you want
Peace
Tim
edit: Just noticed ur in VIC. Check out Autobarn Airport West, they stock Diamond Audio. Have a listen and see if you're blown away or not. Take down a cd you are familiar with, best bet is female vocals. Enjoi

With a Budget of $400 you wont get Front and Rears in the High end Stuff..
With a A budget of $400 look at Getting Hertz Deici DSK 165 Fronts and a set of Herts DCX 690 6x9 rears and you should be able to get High Quality Fronts and rears for the Money
http://www.audison.de/hertz/dieci/frames.html
Check them out on the link above..
Then all you have to do is find a Hertz supplier..

Oh yeh adcha1, is this just for new front speakers? Or did you want to upgrade the lot?
I'd say stick with new fronts and put money into sound deadening. Would be much more worthwhile as your ears face forward. Over time upgrade to a sub if you want.
Rear fill should be exactly that... But each to their own.

I'm looking at front speakers only. A friends got the Diamond Audio M551 and he's selling it for $200. He says he can do it himself. Is it just a case of 'plug and play' or is there anything elsethat should be done ?

Plug n play pretty much. But if you want better response and less rattles you can mount them on baffles, deaden your doors, install diffusers, seal your doors etc etc
Upto you.
