If it is the Internet Based one, just check where they come from, I believe it is Hong Kong or some where in Asia.. Avoid Buying New Gear over then net unless you can deal with the Manufacturer direct..

You talking about the guys on ebay? They just ship from asia like most of the people selling stuff on ebay. Make sure you check your warranty status etc.

Check how they handle import charges too....

You'd hate to get slogged a $60 tariff.

I think they only handle warranty claims/refunds for dead on arrival.

They are cheaper but pretty sure they get their stuff out of Indonesia.

At your own risk I guess.

I got my sony headunit from overseas a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have to pay any import fees and the seller was great. Got it to me by the weekend when i payed on the monday and i think it takes a couple of days to clear. I didnt buy off those guys though. They are all around the same price on ebay so it would pay to look around at the different sellers.

Just looked and got mine from online_depot. Can reccomend them

I was almost going to buy a Pioneer DEH-p5750mp from them the other week. The price on the net after adding freight was going to be around $365. I contacted them about warranty and they said they only cover DOA (Dead on arrival - previously metioned). You don't get a receipt so you cannot go directly to the manufacturer.

I approached JB Hifi (who had it for $570) and told them I could get it on the net for $200 bucks less, what was their best price going to be. They came back with $400 with 12months warranty. So I figured what the hey, the peace of mind is worth more than $35 bucks :D

exactly right. People compare the prices on ebay with RRP. Who the hell walks into JB or somewhere similar and pays RRP? Couple of months ago I went down to Northfield and bought an alpine amp and sub for exactly the same price as that Aussie car audio mob had it for

Buying over the net can be extremly dangerous as sometime there is no warranty at all hence why the pricing is often so cheap..
Besides, would you buy a peice of Audio equipment with out hearing it first ????

If you want to deal over the net, search around for Car stereo stores who actually have store fronts in Australia.... That way if there is a problem you can sort it out without having to pay Overseas phone call rates at odd hours of the morning....

Besides, handing over your credit Card details is so risky even if they say there site is secure....

i have a friend buying from one of these folks, and you know what, they tampered the serial number  there's nothing wrong with the deck, it's just as good as the one you get over here, but tampering serial number so you can sell it overseas isn't a good business practice imo,and probably illegal too.

Hey, i just bought a Alpine HU from them 2 weeks ago [off ebay]
its fantastic, took 3 days from them receiving payment for the HU to arrive. They provided me with tracker number too. I reckon theyr awesome, when i change car i'll b comin back to these guys again. :D
From memory the parcel came from Indonesia [Denpasar]. :gtfo:

Personally id say go for it, especially if ur after Alpine...you cant go past the price.

Oh yea and if they screw around with you, ebay will send them a letter telling them how angry they are with them. :bowrofl:
