I replaced the carb as the auto choke was not working and also it was dying on me when cold and also dying on acceration, I assumed it was totally the carb.

But now with the new one, she still dyes on acceration, but idles ok.

When I start her up she would run for about 30 seconds, then die...no problem re starting, but the slightest use of the accelerator and she'd konk out.

I clamped the fuel line on the return side of the carb, to where it re circulates back into the rear of the carb and it works 110% fine, when I un clamp it, she dies again.

Does this look like fuel blockage, or fuel pump failure??....is there an easy fix...and a cheap one at that...also shes a wagon....where the **** is the fuel pump anyway!!!

Thanx in advance

All unleaded Magnas have a electric fuel pump in the thank, as for your problem that could be a number of things like blocked filter, fuel hoses connected the wrong way ,dirty fuel etc

needle and seat on the new carbi? try tapping the carbi softly.

pressure regulator? check pressure or ask mechanic to if you dont have gauge

fuel pump? plug the feed line into the pressure gauge and see what it gets

Pump pressure should be able to hold at least 10psi, somewhere around 20 i would expect.
Fuel pressure should be a constant 7psi and measured with a T piece in the fuel feed into the carbi (although anywhere along the fuel line from the pump to the regulator will be fine).

Thanx, will do, seems strange though that it only dies when its unclamped at the back of the carb!
