Bought my 2003 TJ AWD Verada 4 weeks ago. It had only done 14,000km and cost me $24,900 - a bargain in my mind.

Just completed a 3,000km country trip (down south to the Esperance region) - so have really been able to test the car out.

The car runs very smoothly, the engine is sweet and powerful. The tiptronic is easy to use - and again quite smooth.

The AWD makes cornering a breeze - I tired it out on dirt roads - especially hills. Never slipped, wheels never spun - always kept traction.

However, there are 2 let downs for me - 1st the driver's seat. Hard, flat, unsupportive. If Mitsubishi want to see how to make a great driver's seat - sit in a Mazda 626 or Mazda 6 - they set the standard in seat design.

The other let down is wind noise at 120 km/h and above - it kind of whistles near the A pillars.

Apart from those 2 niggles, the Verada is an excellent car - and I'm really glad I purchased it.

Well made, roomy, powerful, quiet (well almost), smooth. A very underated car.

Congrats on the purchase. Good to hear you're enjoying it. Haven't driven one myself but from what I've read it handles awesome. If you're after more power in the future, chuck on one of those supercharger kits.

Yep I was at the auctions today and sat in a new camry sportivo. Seats are definitely above average as far as comfort goes but I wouldn't be putting them in BMW class that's for sure.

That's are really nice buy. I don't really see where your comming from with the seats, I'm loving the lumbar support in my TH's seats. My mates and I are planning a road trip at the end of semester so I'll find out how good (or bad) the seats are when you have to sit in them for a long time.

The Verada seats are just too flat and too hard. The Mazda seats are perfectly shaped, have adjustible side wings - really easy to get a perfect fit. The Mazda seat also travels further back than the Mitsu.

The real difference can be seen on long country trips - you get out of the Mazda feeling great, but I got out of the Verada feeling stiff.

Overall though the Verada is an impressive car - a real credit to Mitsubishi. The build quality is first rate - and its a joy to drive. Great car.

I guess seats are a really subjective thing, and depends on your particular body shape.

At home we have a Mazda6 as well as the Ralliart, and while the Mazda seats are okay, I don't think they're a patch on the Magna seats (admitedly I'm talking Ralliart seats).

There's just something in the backrest shape on the Mazda6 which I don't find totally comfortable. After the Ralliart they always feel slightly concave; like there's too much padding around the shoulders, and not enough shape at the base of the spine (even with the lumber on full).

Probably just overly used to the Ralliart shape now. :)

Got an AWD Verada KJ 2003 same impresions ........ road holdoing like no other Australian build car.

Wind noice from the "A" Pillar is comon ........ had the same problem with my company car (was a VY Holden)

However after having a TH Magna the AWD seems slower (And Yes it is by 1 sec - 100 KM _ Not a problem for me).

As for seating .... I find they are firmm .....

Love the car :bowrofl:

AWD ......... no wheel farting pleaseeee!!

No cloth. Just not a very good shape and too firm. You sit on them where as in the Mazda you sit IN them.

Not a big deal overall - the car itself is excellent and I don't regret changing to the Verada at all. Awesome car

Bought my 2003 TJ AWD Verada 4 weeks ago.

Just picked mine up today. What a bloody beautiful car!

Quick, quiet, smooth, powerful and stylish (except those mags.? NOT!). What an amazing dilference from the cruddy old VL I traded.

Have to agree somewhat about the seat. Not the best I've ever sat on. Have to take it on a long run and see how they hold up.

Gotta do something about that stock stereo too... :rocket:

Yeah the stereo isn't great. Replaced mine with an Alpine 9833 head unit and stacker. With a couple of amps, some good speakers and a sub it sounds awesome.

They are a great car to drive. done nearly 3,500km in 4 weeks in mine - off down south again this weekend clocking up another 1,500km.

Another Brother to the Fold, welcome.

I've tinkered a bit with the easy stuff on my AWD, so search recent posts/threads for my flowed Throttle Bodies (a must have for the sluggish AWD), CAI, Pod box etc to get your mind ticking over with things to do.

I'm working on a set of stainless extractors for the AWD too.

PM if there's anything burning on your mind and I'll do my best to help ;)
