Hey.....I am looking at getting two of the 12 inch Jaycar Response Precision DVC subs.....but I am not sure what to do in terms of powering both of them. Since they are both DVC....is it possible to wire them up to one single amp? I was thinking maybe the 4 x 100 WRMS Precison Amp, which powers 2 channels at 380wrms but at 4 ohms...is this possible?
Either that or I could get the 2 x 150wrms amp, which will power two channels at 2 ohms with 255wrms or 150wrms at 4 ohm...
One other question they have two subs.....a 12 inch Double magnet sub....and a "carbon fibre" sub......but the CF sub is the "Precision response" one. Now the double Magnet sub is more expensive...would it be safe to say its better?
Please help me here guys..... thanks....

hmm, I can't find the Precision DVC subs on their online catalogue :doubt:

assuming these are dual 4 ohm coils, you can wire them up to see a 4 ohm load in total.
Or 2 x 2 ohm load.
Best off with the 2 channel amp in that case...

I'd definitely go (have gone myself) the 150x2wrms. It bridges to 450wrms x 1 @ 4ohm, according to spec. Have a look at wiring diagrams for different loadings. Wiring in series or parallel changes the load the amp sees. The 150wx2 is 2ohm stable if 2 channel, but I don't think it is 2ohm stable bridged to mono. You could probably series the dvc's and then parallel the drivers to the amp, and you'd have the amp seeing a mono 4ohm load, which gives you 450wrms, which I think is plenty for those subs you're talking about, if my memory serves me. Of course, if you want stereo subs then you'd have to think of something else. But stereo subs? I'm sure some people do it. Best thing (one of a few anyway) about bridged 150x2 is one gains for your subs. Keeps it simple.
You can also check out wiring up resistors or caps in series or parallel with drivers to change impedence and loading, but I'm not going to try and explain that. Look it up in google. I can try and find some informative links if you're interested.
edit:
lol... I think I just wrote what you said in less than 10 words Tim. But maybe the longer explaination helped? Dunno. Anyways....

what are those jaycar subs like for SQL?
I was thinking of one of their 10 or 12" subs in a sealed box (if this is the right way to go for SQL... I think it is from everything Ive read so far!!).
Cheers

I like their amps, but not really their speakers. They're probably ok if you want to go cheap and good value. But yeah. I know a couple of people with them, and they're very happy. But SQ seems to be fairly subjective these days to say the least. Some people have roof mounted sony 6x9's and think they've got SQ  I'm going a single 12" sealed. could probably go 10", but whatever blows your hair back. Jaycar amps however are GREAT for the price.

When speaking realistic bass listening levels incar you'll find a single better quality 12" with serious power sounds better than duals if the budget is a little thin. ;)
For example, get yourself a single $200 12" subwoofer over twin $100 subwoofer. The better subs will have more power handling, better T/S specs, probably further excursion and overall the bass itself will sound better given modest amplifier power. Of course if the budget goes higher all this theory gets tossed but you get my point. :)
