I would have thought that an airbag was more imortant.IMO

Shhhh, this is darwinism at work :)

If you want to remove your airbag, get someone to do it professionaly. Else you could trigger it and that's all bad.

You cannot replace an airbag wheel from a vehicle with a non-airbag wheel - it contravenes ADR's.

If the sports wheel has an airbag, no problems.

Have you considered getting your current wheel wrapped in leather by a competent trimmer?

Or using the wheel out of a VRX/Sports?

IMHO the sports/vrx wheel looks nice, but after having to drive for 8 hours in one (hire car) the stitching on the wheel really gets uncomfortable.

I have a TF Sports witht he stock standard wheel and in a trip from Adel to Wagga didn't have a problem. Yeah it's not the greatest looking thing, and I'm still looking into getting one of those leather wrap arounds from Philcom Rally, but I'll do for the moment

Yes, don't take the airbag wheel out of the car if it was fitted standard. You will get in trouble somewhere along the line. It does contravene ADRs to remove any safety equipment from a car, unless you replace it with something equivalent or better.

I had a TF with no airbag, so i was sweet! Got an Autotechnica wheel in mine.

IF you needed to take a Airbag wheel off for some reason (and going to replace it afterwards), you would take the battery OUT OF THE VEHICLE.

You would also mark all wires as you removed them, along with any polarities etc. They all MUST go back in the same way, otherwise when you reconnect the battery...... BOOM! One deployed airbag.

I recommend you don't do it - get a pro to do it, If they fcuk it up and it deploys, they can pay for a new one.... and they are bloody expensive! Ring your local dealer's spare parts division if you do not believe me.....

I had my local mitsu dealer do a steering wheel swap for me when I had a TJ exec, replaced it with a silver & grey leather VR-X wheel like in my Avatar. :D
