also cause i love the noise but hate the look (personally) and i dont wanna get slagged off for being a "ricer" lol

could be done, but a cheaper option would be to get a smaller straight through normal shaped muffler and put your tip on it..

cheaper because unless you can tig then its not going to be a very good weld on the cannon

seriously...jump on ebay....do a search for FLYING PERFORMANCE, they have a nice range of cannons....stop being a girl and shove a nice big fat one on the a$$ of the ralliart....when i nearly bought a ralliart that was the first thing i was going to do.....nice big one, 2 and a half" inlet, 6" barrel, 4" tip.....get it welded on (make sure u leave the resonators and or hot dogs as you dont wanna be too loud) and then get it turned at angle....would look so god damn phatt!!!!

iam yet to see a ralliart with a nice big cannon turned sideways.....the only ppl that call it rice are the ones that are jealous coz their car is shiiitt....

rice or a ricer is someone who gets a typically slow car, and makes it look like it goes fast...even tho its still slow......ralliarts def arent rice.....

the commom*****s with big shift kits on their dashes and vs/vr sedans with those alezza lights....now thats rice.... lol

So what is a "ricer?" It is a pretty complex question so let's go to the experts.

Y does it make this sound? i got a 4cyl TF which has a 2.25" with a straight-thru muffler on the end, and it also makes this so called "ball bearings in a baked bean can" :bowrofl: noise when cold! :confused:

What are peoples thoughts the performance benefits of Cannon mufflers?? Does the design make them flow better/less restrictive than more conventional muffler designs?? or are they essentially the same as any other straight thru muffler with regards to performance?

The reason I ask is because I recently read a post on a car forum (may have been this one - can't even remember anymore) some one saying they would never have got a cannon if it wasn't for the enthusiastic endorsement of their local "exhaust specialist"? - that got me thinking...... do they perform better than other mufflers??? or was this guy just trying to sell more cannons?

I have replaced the muffler on mine with a Lukey ultraflow 3" stainless cannon style(it's a shame to hide it under the bar cos it's nicely polished) and i had the original tip chopped and put back on so it still looks good with the kit. I love the sound of it, good note round town, can't hear it on the highway.

They cut the tip back to give the 3" size and then welded a bit of 3" pipe onto the tip and cleaned it up nice then cut it to length and welded it to the muffler(which has a 3" in 3" out). looks very neat.

to the best of my *very limited* knowledge you only get a REAL big performance increase if you gots a snail or the like, but who ****en cares really.... LISTEN TO EM lol :D

When you think about the design of a straight through and a cannon they're really the same, a cannon just has a massive tip and the straight through doesnt... performance gain would be so small it wouldn't be shown on a dyno i'd imagine. I've got 2.25 on the TP and its pretty loud, lukey ultra.

I have a canon on my car at the moment and i have actually cut the rear bumper out to accomodate the 4" tip that it has on it and everyone that has heard my car thinks that it sounds great... Originally i had it on an angle down the bottom like somone suggested and it just looked tacky like it was just tacked on there temporarily but now it has it's place... As for power when you put it on you will automatically notice the gain (in your head) as you wind it out through every gear to hear what it sounds like :D

Then you see your fuel economy going downhill after thrashing it everywhere :cry:

I would just leave the canon showing... as someone else said if someone thought that it was rice then it is becuz they are jealous of your car man...

cannons sound like that when there cold as well :s but its all good when the car has warmed up

BTW what is the ideal pipe size to lead upto it?

I don't like the look of cannons. Is it possible to position it where the resonators are rather than at the back. Or is it just an expensive hotdog up there. I like the sound of some cannons. A GTi just went past with a small cannon and it sounded tight.
