Hi guys, Ive been looking at getting some touch-up paint as my car has a couple of scratches on the bumper. When looking for the specific colour, there was about half a dozen reds for mitsubishi. On the build plate in the engine bay, it says "AC" for colour. Help!
go to wherever u were lookin at the paints and open one of the booklets near the paitns....
go to the mitsubishi in the book and find AC, it will give u the exact colour......
if yur still unsure ask a sales assistant...

Or if you so choose, get involved in a pile up which causes $4500 worth of damage to the front of your car and they give you a little bottle with your brand new spanking panels.
Food for thought i think

Heya mate..!
I have owned my magna from brand new.... When I bought it, it come with heaps and heaps of papers, manuals, and the whole ranges of TR and TS colour chart, and trim combination codes.. I still have all these papers, and the color code AC is called, Chianti Red, and is a Pearlescent paint..! Hope this helps.....

No worries..! The actual paint color is normally a different color than a color chart anyway, so thats prolly why it didnt look like yours..! On the paint and trim colors and combination codes papers ive got, there is only 4 red colours in the TR TS range..

If yopur car has metallic paint though it's hardly worth buying the touch-up stuff cos when I used it it was a slightly different shade to the body paint. Possibly due to paint fade. But it's alright on small scratches or chips less than about 5mm.

Oh well maybe my paint had faded more than yours. Saw three other metallic green tr/ts wagons cruising round Adelaide today though. Two were V6's though, why didn't I get one. :headbange

Possibly yeah, that thought crossed my mind. Also I think there could be a difference with different brand tints.
I only have housepaint experience with tints, but for example when I tinted a wattyl colour with dulux tints, it would be VERY close to the wattyl colour but just a bit off, it was unfortunately noticeable. So maybe that's the case?

True..! I have never had any probs with the touch up bottles I buy.. I have the dark Madeira red, pearlescent, it all blends in well...! I only get the bottles from my mitsu dealer, the down side is they gotta order it now coz they say its an old car, old color, and they dont stock it anymore..!

The metallic colours can also be affected by discolouration of the clear coat which can cause an imperfect match as the clear turns a yellowish tone as it ages/breaks down under uv light.
